whining noise
I'm seeing a lot of talk about whining noises. I have one too. But it happens to me while I'm driving usually after I was messing around in sport mode with some rapid accelerations and high shifts. It goes on while I'm stopped but gets louder as I move and or turn. My first thought it was the turbo just whining then I thought it was the power steering. Does anyone know what could be the problem or is it normal. I also hear a creaking noise in the back of my car when I go over bumps.

Wine could be PS or A/C or ALT. Have some one put a chassis ear around the engine bay while you drive to diagnose.
Creak could be anything from the fold down rear seat lock, to a bad sway bar link.

FWIW, after much distress about this, I added power steering fluid (until I could have it flushed) and this delayed (and unpredictable) whining has stopped totally. It initially started only after I had driven for a distance. It's a good first step, then see if you need more.
