Water dripping when u open trunk

I assume that this is a design flaw for everybody. 2009 RDX. This happens when it has rained/snowed and there is residual moisture on the car. When I lift the trunk door up, the water will run straight off the edge of the trunk door and drip on top of my head. Normally I let it drip for a few seconds, then move in closer to the car, now it may miss me or hit my back.

I'm not complaining about getting wet if it is raining but opening the trunk in the morning and getting dripped on. I believe on my old car Volvo V50 it had rain channels built into the panels, or just more aerodynamic.

Does everybody else have this problem. I'm thinking of taping a strip of plastic on the bottom of the trunk panel so water will hit it then drain off to the edges. What do you suggest?

I have the same problem and I hate it. I was thinking to tape something as well, but never had the time to do it. Please let me know if it worked and don’t forget to post some pictures.

I'm thinking of using one of those strips of plastic or rubber weather striping that you buy for the under side of house doors for draft protection. It would only need to stick out 2mm to get the moisture to run off the sides.

I probably wont try it till the spring when it's much warmer.

Found a fix to the water dripping problem. It's called 2010 RDX. I was at the dealership the other day and noticed that the 2010 model has a few new features. The bottom edge lip of the panel is protruding out so that water will stop before going over the edge and onto your head and channel away to the side of the car. It also has two hand indentations to grab and close your trunk instead of the one rear grip that's part of the interior of your trunk.

Now to find out what the price is and if it is as easy as removing a bolts.

yep, own a 2010 rdx and i didnt have any problem with water dripping. however, there seems to be more plastic panels (which i prefer since i dont think acura paint is as "durable" as the mb's/audi's of this world) vs 2009/earlier model. i guess that's a trade up vs the trade down for the beak LOL
