Smile Transmission Problem

I got a 08 rdx, and it has always been a great ride.

But recently i found that after driving for a while, the transmission shifter heated up for some reason which i had no clues. Be more specific, the heated part was right on the display area (P R N D S). Especially around "p", it was like significantly warmer.

I am not sure if it has always been like this, but it really became annoying after i noticed that.

Is this normal?
Does anyone can explain it to me ?

Thanks for all your replies.

Never noticed this. I'll check next time after a drive.

I dunno, I've touched around the shifter and there isn't really anything hot or warm at all. 80+ degree weather and redline driving, didn't notice your problem.

I think this is normal. Happen all the time on mine on a long drive.

It's normal.
It's excessive heat emitting from the NAV unit.
The NAV unit's cooling fan in just below the gear shifter.

If you feel very carefully, you can feel a very slight vibration through the shifter. This is also from the NAV's cooling fan.

All normal operation, nothing to worry about.

Cheers!
