Startup pop ?

Well lately, after a car wash or big snow fall and being in the cold I have noticed upon turning the key to start the car and I goto start it, when its cranking my speakers pop.

Its not light, its a loud pop. Once I drive around with the heat on and then come to a stop, turn off car, wait a minute and turn it back on no sound.

Anyone have this problem?

Specifically for those in the below 0 degrees celcius weather.

Hmmm....PURELY blue skying here, so it's a stretch. How old is your RDX? There was a service bulletin several months ago where dealers were told to replace any radios that they had on the lots due to a soldering issue. Apparently it caused a loss of sound from the front speakers. I SUPPOSE, if you had a bad solder joint somewhere that was opening up slightly in the cold, when you powered it up it could result in a slight arc - and cause a pop. Once everything warmed up, the metal would expand enough to make contact and eliminate the gap.

Again, it's a HUGE stretch, but I'd still get it checked out while under warranty....

My

Mike

Theres a tech line summary for a related problem on MDX's
Tech Line information is updated monthly and is subject to revision as new or improved information is issued. When an
article becomes outdated, or is replaced by an official AHM publication (ServiceNews or Service Bulletin), it will be deleted.
Tech Line Summary Article
An intermittent pop noises audible through the speakers is currently under investigation. At present, we
have the following information about these noises:
• An audio unit software timing issue can causes a pop noise when the ignition switch is turned from ON
to START; wait for forthcoming Service Bulletin.
• An amplifier problem can cause a pop noise at low temperatures, 5 seconds after turning the ignition
switch OFF, or 5 seconds after opening a door. To resolve this complaint; wait for the forthcoming
Service Bulletin.
• The power door lock actuators can cause a pop noise when locking or unlocking the power door locks
5 seconds after turning the ignition OFF. To resolve this complaint, contact Tech Line for
countermeasured power door lock actuators or wait the forthcoming Service Bulletin.
Replacing speakers, amplifiers, audio units for these noises will not give a lasting repair; wait for
appropriate Service Bulletins.

We're getting the speaker pop now also, on key turn with temps in the 30s.

Thanks Sonomaa, for the info.
