Exclamation Sound problem with my 2008 RDX

I have the RDX for about 2 weeks now and I notice there is a wind sound when I press down on the gas and the car Accelerate. It is a very annoying sound. Does anyone have that problem? Do you have any idea what that I can be. I took it to dealer and they don't know what the problem is.

I know this may sound stupid but wouldn't that be the turbo kicking in? It's more like a whoosh sound but maybe it's the same thing. I would assume you'd know the difference so I'm sure it's not but figured I'd just put in my 2 cents. Let me know once you figure out what it is. Good luck!

Yep, sounds like the turbo whine to me. It took a little getting used to, but now I kind of like it!

It's the turbo and the gating mechanism. It's the nature of the beast. Frankly, I'm a little surprised that the dealer didn't know what 'the problem' was...

Hehe....kinda reminds me of the time many many years ago when I was driving my brother and his girlfriend to a show. She asked me what that 'stick' thing was on the center console...she didn't like it because it made the car shake when I moved it. Besides the obvious comment on my ability to drive a stick smoothly, I found the whole thing quite funny...

It's funny because this is my first turbo and I had a concern about the sound that it made after reading some of these forums. I did hear it a little in my test drives but nothing crazy. Now that I've had the car for a week I hardly notice it at all. But when I do, I actually like the little sound that it makes. A nice little whoosh.....I have yet to get my baby on the highway...can you believe that? I've done all city driving and getting 11mpg...ha ha ha...I find it pretty hilarious. But I know obvioulsy that's going to increase over usage.

The engine is turbocharged, are you sure it is not the turbo winding up and down?

I think he means the wind noise at the B pillar. I used to drive an Integra GSR and the B pillar was lower profile and further behind me since it is a 2 door rather than 4 door, so I never heard any wind. But the RDX wind noise is a lot more noticeable.

It's not the sound from the Turbo it's a gussing sound. I can hear the turbo cutting in different to the sound. The dealer cannot figure out what it is. We wrote to American Honda to try and figure out what it is.

If theres a leak somewhere you should get the "wind sound" all the time not just during acceleration.

There is 2 things on the motor that may make a bit noise under hard acceleration, turbo or vtec.

The sound I am hearing is only during acceleration. I test drive it with the mechanic at the dealer and he agree that it's not the turbo, so they are trying to figure out where the sound is coming from. They check to make sure everything is connect properly to the turbo, so we are waiting on American Honda to see if they can figure out what the problem is.
