RDX 2007: car shook when starting, CEL on

Hi,

I have a RDX 2007, 25000miles. This morning when I started car, it started to shake and looked like there is not enough oil in engine. The lights of VSA and SH-AWD, and Engine Check were on. After about 1 min, the engine was off by itself.
When I started the engine again, the car did not shake, but Engine Check light is on.
Do you guys have idea about what's the problem here?

Many thanks!

Leon

Did you notice any problems the last time you drove it? Poor mpg, rough idling, anything?

How do you know the oil looked low? Did you check the dipstick? Is there any oil or other liquid under the car in the garage/on the driveway?

I didn't notice any problem in the last driving.
Sorry, I meant it looked like there is not enough fuel/gas into engine. Not engine oil. No liquid under car in the garage.

This problem (i'm pretty sure) has nothing to do with low oil or bad gas!
Question, can you remember if it was raining out when you last shut off the engine (before the problem occured), like the night before?

I have a similar problem that has happened quite a few times to my RDX, and when it does happen I've noticed that its always wet outside. I havent been able to pull a code yet cause I just got a reader and it hasnt happed since. From experience, the problem should go away by itself, but if you can, go get the check code read to see what it says!
I'm thinking it may have to do with a plug (connector) on the passenger side of the engine down near the engine mount; maybe when moister gets in/on it a code or few are thrown!!?

I did drive it in rain before this happened.
Now it became worse. I was planning to drive a dealer to fix it, but I can't even ignite the engine now!

Ouch. Good luck and let us know the outcome.

Btw, you mentioned being low on gas. How low, exactly? Especially in winter, it it not good to get too low on gas.

Wow ok. When you get it to the dealer, relate all that you have read here (my case senario really) to help them diagnos the problem. Hopefully any codes that they pull will point them in the right direction also!

And as always please keep informed on results causes etc!

Many thanks to all of you guys' information and help.

I towed in the car to the dealer yesterday. It turns out it's because of bad fuel. The dealer will charge me although it's under warranty.

I was confused, and remembered that I used Exxon 93 gas before and no problem with it. Can I call the gas station and get compensation or something?

So what type gas did you end up getting put in to cause the problem?

That sounds wierd though...Ive never heard of a car not even starting because of bad gas. It must have had allot of water or something mixed in it and as the car sat over night it all settled to the bottom of the tank causing the fuel pump to suck almost pure water or whatever it was into the engine thus it not starting!

I filled it with #93 at Exxon. It was raining when I filled it up. But I don't know how could this happen with so much water...
Anyway, thank you very much.

Could have been the bottom of the tank, or the tank was just filled by the truck, which stirred up deposits. Whatever the case, I'd probably switch stations just to be safe.

This happened to my family years ago when I was younger. We'd stopped for gas somewhere, and just a mile or so down the road, the car stalled out. It was dirty gas from a Sunoco station. Not a good experience.
