Hi,
I recently picked up a 2010 RDX and It's got a lot of Kms (300,000) so I've been trying to completely go over all the different mechanical checks, so far it's in good shape.
I did find that the PS fluid level was lower than the "low" indicator and there was caked fluid all around the hoses and pump.
I've washed/cleaned as much off as I can with the hope I can see what's leaking. Any advice on rebuilding vs replacement of the pump or does the line from the top leak regularly? I remember having to replace a similar line on my old BMW in the past as the rubber to metal link always seemed to leak. Thanks in advance.
IS the pump noisy? I did this on my partners RDX (300k km when we bought it) as the pump was very noisy. For leaks, my families pilot had a leaking power steering pump which required replacement of 2 o rings on the pump itself. Id replace the pump only if it is noisy otherwise go for o rings to start. All parts i have put in were from various junk yards and i have not had an issue since. Hope it helps.
The power steering pump in this car is one of the easiest ones I have changed coming from older volvo's. I would not put it more than a 30 minute diy job. Keep a socket extension for 1/2in or 3/8in and use it to plug the lines while changing. Refer to honda CRV videos on how to change the pump as it is a near identical layout. Hope it helps!

Thanks, would you happen to know if the Honda CR-V of the same years would directly swap in? Chances of me finding an RDX in the junk yard is nil.round here, CR-Vs are everywhere tho! Thanks

So I did the full lock test and it's seeping out of the area marked on this photo. I'm hoping that would be an o-ring as it doesn't make much noise when pumping?
