Passenger airbag

I saw a post about this issue before, but cannot find the thread.

I have a 07 RDX. Starting this winter, the passenger airbag off warning comes on nearly every day I drive it. It usually occurs 5-10 minutes into the ride. I've taken it to the dealer twice and they cannot find a problem, and state that the airbag is working okay. Basically, all they do is plug it into the computer, and since no problems show up, they simply clear the messages. My feeling is that it must be the sensor. And no, I don't have anything on the passenger seat. On a side note, occasionaly the "tighten fuel cap" light comes on when it is perfectly tight.

Has anyone had similar issues?

Yes I have the same problem it always happens the same way as you describe and it must be below 38° F. I also had it to the dealer twice and they can't find a thing. They claim they called the technology center on the west coast and they never heard of this problem. My dealer won’t do anything to resolve this issue because it is more of a nuisance problem.

Weird if you get it w/o any objects on seat.

I'm one of the ones who has posted on this before. Mine started turning off randomly in very cold weather. At first it was only below 20F. The first time I took it in, they told me that the sensor was out of calibration, and they recalibrated it. After that, it would only happen below 10F. When I took it back a second time, I did it on a really cold day - ie: -10F. They told me that when they hooked it up, for some reason it was reading 2 pounds. The zeroed it out once again, and now it only happens when the temp is below 0F. They have promised me that if I bring it in again, they will replace the sensor. Given that it only happens below 0 now, I'm not really in a hurry to do anything - although I probably will before my warranty runs out.

I too had this problem. Every day the dash light would come on and I'd get an alert on the screen. This happened at temps above and below 40 degrees, but always 10 to 15 minutes into a drive.

I called my dealer and was initially told they never heard of this. I responded that there is a way to re-calibrate the seat sensor (based on what I read on this board). I told them I did not want to bring the vehicle in so they could experiment and I would wait until they researched this problem with Acura. I finally got a call from the service mgr. who said they would re-calibrate the sensor and flash the on-board computer with the latest update.

That was done three weeks ago and I have not had the problem since. Hopefully, it won't re-occur.
