No Heat - Quick Fix by Lubricating Heater Control Valve Cable.

My 2007 RDX has been without heat for a while. (I live in the South where AC is priority in a vehicle, and the RDX is a 2nd vehicle, anyhow.)
AC has been working fine.
Climate Control Diagnostics test was good with no error messages.
Blower motor has been working fine with air coming in all modes and vents.
I then determined that the Heater Control valve had to be moved manually to either closed or open position.
Quick fix was to lubricate the heater control valve cable and now everything works fine.
I am hoping this may help someone else!

Each of the last 2 years, my car didn't blow heat the first time I tried to use it after the summer (in Phoenix area it's normal to go 8 months straight without touching the heat). Both times I fiddled with that actuator on the driver's side near the gas pedal and it worked. Though, I do have the replacement part in the garage in case it does call it quits for good.

How do you tell which one needs replacing? I've ordered 79160-STK-A01 for the driver side, but I'm wondering if I need the passenger side. When cycling through the modes, the air didn't come through the center vents or the side vents.

Dona, where is it that you lubricate the heater control valve cable, and how do you access this?

No need for help now. I removed the panel on the driver side, looked at the actuator as I was changing from hi cold to hi heat and it was not moving without strain. The track was partially clogged with gunk and grease. I used q-tips to clean out as much as possible, and shot lithium grease around the moving parts. The heat came back.
