Issues with warranty

Has anyone had issues getting Acura to cover failure in a part? I have a 2008 RDX and the glass on one of the fog lights cracked. I understand that there is a high probability that something from the road hit it and caused the damage, however based on the type of crack, location of the track and lack of evidence on the glass of any stone hitting it, I strongly believe the glass failed doe to a temperature issue.

I asked the dealer to take a look and decline covering it under warranty, claiming that Acura will not accept the part back. I communicated with Acura directly and after investigating the issue, the claim was declined due to the fact that the dealer didn’t think it was caused by a quality issue (loop hole in the system if you ask me).

More than the cost of replacing of go light, I am very disappointed with the way Acura handled the request. I asked them to test the glass and was given the response that it was impossible to do.

Any advice?

I do not own a RDX but both my foglights cracked on my 06 tsx within 6 months of ownership. The dealer replaced them free as a one-time goodwill. I know other posters also had them replaced free. My foglights cracked due to being hit by some kind of rocks on the highway. They are made of glass- should be made with something else.

Though I never had a problem with the fog lights both the headlights on my RDX developed horizontal slits in them. Each had several slits in them and it didn't look like anything could have hit them to cause such specific slits. I had the dealer look at it and after about a week they got it approved through the regional manager to get them replaced under warranty. The car had 19K on it at the time as well.

You might try a different dealer.

Mine's cracked twice! It was even covered with 3M rockguard, but I drive on a very nasty road going to work in the winter time with big trucks coming the other way so no big surprise. Second time it broke on the highway holding around 80 MPH but flashed it up to 130 a couple times. Came home to discover that a rock shot right through like a bullet. Didn't have the 3M on that time. Strangely it didn't even cross my mind to get it warrantied!

Clearcoat was peeling off wheels too, they did warranty that.

Foglights are pretty cheap from www.oemacuraparts.com and not too hard to install.
