Hood Allignment

I have a problem that I just noticed on my RDX. The hood is out of allignment with the fender on the driver's side. I checked real close to make sure that I had not been hit and thank goodness, I hadn't...however, I have a 1/2- 1/4 inch gap where the hood and fender join closest to the wind shield. Has anyone else experienced this? I wiould think this would be a warrenty fix.

Open your hood and make sure there isn't anything obstructing the hood closing. If there isn't anything, then chances are that when you got the vehicle serviced, there was something there when they went to close the hood and it created the misalignment. Hopefully you can just push it back into place. Good luck!

My gap is 3/16" on the driver's side and 1/4" on the passenger's side.

I'm guessing that the gap he is referring to is vertical, not horizontal. Or his hood is 1/4"-1/2" high, not left or right. If it were 1/2" gap horizontally, then it would over lap on the other side!

Yes it's vertical. It actually appears like the hood is slightly recessed into the enjine cavity at the wind shield end.

You might want to take it to the dealer so that they can inspect it and make sure everything is structurally OK with it, but it probably just needs to be pulled up. Like maybe someone over corrected it when it got bent out, or maybe someone sat on or stood on your hood.

Thanks, I'll do that. My guess is that the hood was damaged at the dealer when I had my last maintenance.

My whole hood sits just a tiny bit low. It's worse at the bumper end where both sides are about 1/8" to 3/16" low. I thought it was just designed that way, but now I'll have to go check out other RDX and see if mine might be out of whack too...

I had a similar problem a few years back on a new Accord, and the dealership took care of it. My alignment was so far off that it was a job and a half just to get it to shut fully at the time.
