High speed (80mph+) vibration

2007 rdx 80k miles
Rides smooth up to about 75mph above that it gets more of a shake/chop through the steering wheel.
Started with just rotating tires.
Replaced tires (new continentals)
re balanced new tires
alignment, going to realign this week- un related pull to the right.

My regular mechanic suggested struts says nothing appears to be worn otherwise (tie rod ends, bushings)

Anyone else have similar problems, or any suggestions before I just start t growing money at it?

Could be you need a road force balance to adjust the tire/rim to minimize balance weights? Do you have a tire with a lot of balance weights on it? Discount Tires does it for free if you purchased your tires from them. If not the tires, sounds like a suspension problem like worn parts that show its wear at higher speeds.

Road force balance was a good suggestion. If your tires are properly balanced / aligned and you are still getting vibration it could be a slightly bent wheel from a pothole. Most tire shops will let you know if the wheel is bent at all when they go to balance however.

I have experienced similar symptoms when I broke a tie rod on a REALLY bad pothole in my Jag so it is possible that it is related to that...but you would know it if you hit something hard enough to break a tie rod.

Curious to see the outcome on this as I get a similar feel in my steering wheel around 70 mph. It's not too annoying and I'll be due for new tires in the next 10k or so miles, but if a new set of tires and freshly balanced wheels + alignment doesn't fix it I'll be concerned.

What exactly is a road force balance? Is it exclusive to discount tires or??? Ive heard it thrown around before but never "needed" one. If it doesn't work I don't know if I'll keep fixing it till its fixed I may just go trade it in

Road force balance applies a roller to simulate the pressure the tire feels on the road as you are driving. The equipment can determine the optimal point to rotate the tire along the rim to provide the smoothest ride.

Another thing that might be a problems is your tire(s) might be out of round. It could be just the tire(s) or a suspension problem causing uneven wear on the tire(s). There are shops that can measure the roundness and shave down any uneven or high spots.

I would only check into the out of round problem after if verified the suspension is A-OK, no defects in the tire(s), no uneven wear, alignment is ok, and PSI is ok. Sometimes you might have to take it in for a second or third opinion to narrow down the problem.

Watching this one. Just bought a 2010 RDX SHAWD have a shake in wheel at 70 mph and the vehicle pulls right at interstate speeds. Taking it in today for them to look at it.

Reviving an older thread. This is now me - slight/moderate vibration felt in the steering wheel at high speed. No other issues or sounds. I think I will put on my snow wheels & tires and take the RDX out for a run, to determine if it a balance is needed on the stock wheels.

Is anyone still here who can help?

So I have a slight vibration when going highway speeds, and it actually has the sensation of coming and going which is weird to me. I haven't noticed any correlation with road type, uphill vs downhill, braking vs accelerating. I just recently did new tires, which were balanced fine, new inner and outer tie rods, and kyb struts on all four corners, and still have the vibration at high speeds. I am considering axles, but I don't have a vibration when accelerating. I will look into a road force balance where I live. Any other suggestions would be awesome. Thanks!

Replacing the front + rear swaybar bushings eliminated the highway shake in my RDX. The old swaybar bushings were very dry-rotted and the swaybars had a lot of play in them.
