Got Rear-Ended...touch up paint sufficient?

Hey all,

Got hit in the rear yesterday. I have some scratches on the bumper and rear trunk. No structural damages at all.

The guy took off some paint and I can actually see the black plastic underneath. Do you think touch-up paint and some good polishing would do the trick?

Below are pictures, not sure how good you can see, but basically, its just the top layer of paint came off and black underlayer is visible.

Thanks~!!

That's too much damage for touch-up paint. It'll be very noticeable. Sorry.

You'll definitely need some bodywork on that. Scratches are too many and too deep for touch-up paint.

you might as well get a new bumper....if its down to the rubber, no way you could touch it up, dont bother trying. it will look worse. that things pretty banged up, if u can live with it who cares, if not, get a new one. insurance? also, i see you hve a pretty significant knick on the right side of the tail gait, if u dont get the metal parts taken care of, you will also have rusting to deal with and probably more peeling etc...thats no touch up job at all

Was it a moving accident? Why not just put a claim on the other driver's insurance and get it fixed properly?

I would file a claim for that and have the person that you hit you pay for it. I doubt there is any additional damage behind the bumper but it's always nice to know for sure. Touch-up paint would be very noticeable as it's a bunch of big scratches.
