Car Died/Battery Terminals

The RDX needs to use the battery voltage when the car is running. This is not like older cars that can just run on the alternator w/ a completely dead battery. My RDX completely died on me today while I was driving and would not restart. The symptom was just like a dead battery. I figured I needed a new battery or an alternator. But, the battery tested good, The battery terminal ends just needed cleaning. I used some baking soda and water, them greased them w/ petroleum jelly and it started right up. The terminal ends are copper and corrode over time. Just something to check if you have an issue or if they are corroded clean them. I got really lucky it happened in front of a friends house.

Also, I meant to say, the terminals didn’t even look that dirty (no obvious crusty green). I had just changed the battery 6 months ago. BUT,they were just dirty enough to cause the car to die on me. Luckily, I was not on the highway.
