Angry Bubbles on leather

I have a 2008 RDX, for about six months or so now bubbles have been developing on both the door and center armrest. The leather is separating from the foam. The center armrest was so bad that the leather actually ripped, it looks like its not even leather but cheap vinyl.

Has anyone had this happen?

I ended up buying all new parts from Bernardi Acura, hopefully the problem does not reapear.

Most people with cars under warranty go to the dealer. But, if you want to do it now with the parts you have, here is the DIY:

Replace Console Cover

Thanks for the answers. The car is out of warranty due to the mileage, thats why I purchased the parts.

I did the center armrest, talk about pita. I need to do the doors now.

737, I just read your DIY. Man that would have come in handy last night I spent 20 minutes pulling and pulling trying not to break anything at first.

Once finished I called my wife to come see since its her car !

I also have an 08, I have noticed on area of the door is developing bubbles, I only have like 2 monthes left on the lease so I will most likley no worry about it as long as it desn't get worse.

Same crap. I replaced mine earlier this year and purchased from Bernardi, same thing is happening.

At first it looked like it might have been better quality but it was not.

I will buy the parts again as it still looks better than a rip, at least for a year. J

Has anyone gone to a local upholstery shop? I could only assume having it redone in a higher grade leather by a local shop would cost about the same as the stock part, but last much longer... just a thought.

Lucky me though, There's a local prison with an upholstery work program... turnaround is about 2-3 weeks, but you only pay for materials. I'm shipping my console, and both doors sometime soon. Maybe you could all check in on that as well... worth a shot...

My best friend had the prison redo the seat on his 73 CB 550 motorcycle. Cost him about $15, and he had them embroider the "H" on the back. Looks amazing.

There is another thread that discusses the armrest.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=782276

I ordered one from these guys. It did take about an hour to get everything installed correctly but the quality it topnotch.

First I got the vinyl tearing up on the armrest and the drivers' door.
But now the driver's Seat upper side tore! It looks real bad... The side of the driver's seat is NOT Leather! It's vinyl..... Only the top surface of the seat is leather.
I think the damage happened as I put my arm on my seat top when I drive in reverse, the pressure wore out the vinyl.
Now I have to take it to the upholstery guy.... :^(
It's a 2007 RDX with 128K.
I guess it is not so bad when the car finish wears out before the engine fails.
Are any of the vinyl repair kits shown on TV any good? (I doubt it but let us know if you've tried any).
My torn seat looks real bad now and I want to cover the tear for the time being, even with mediocre results.

I got the vinyl repair kit and gave it a try. First I put some fabric under the tear on the seat, to get some support. Then I put the vinyl glue and left it cure for a day. Then I put some of the black paint. I used the textured paper to give it a similar look to the leather. This didn't work very well. So I put another coat of the paint and left it to cure.
I will try some textured paper and see if it gets the leather look.

Try redlinegoods, they use only real leather and they are low priced. They don't list the console cover but they can make any replacement part needed if you send them a sample to recreate. Real leather won't delaminate.

I would also vouch for Redline. I got a shift boot and an hand-brake cover for my old car from them to replace crappy, thin vinyl that was falling apart. They were high-quality pieces and extremely reasonably priced.
