Brake pads
How long should brake pads last? Is there any reason to have the dealer replace instead of the tire shop (where I'm getting my avid envigors)?
Thanks in advance!

OEM front pads should go about 30K miles. OEM rear pads should go about 60K miles.
The dealer will use OEM pads, which are good quality. The tire shop might use any cheap pad out there. Ask them.

I have to agree with XIS, I think the stock pads can go almost 50k. They are not exotic, you don't need a dealer. I do mine myself, and it takes about 30 minutes per side. Just a thought in case you believed you needed special tools.

^50K Front and rear? I noticed some odd wear patterns on the left rear rotor. I'll be having it turned on the car with a new set of pads.

My front OEM pads were replaced around 25k by dealer. The replacement pads are coming on 50k. Don't know if replacement pads are OEM or if dealer was BSing me when he replaced the original pads at 25k.
