3 Weeks without my RDX

It has been 3 weeks now since I dropped my RDX off at the Acura dealership due to a droughning noise and loss of power. The RDX stalled 3 times on the way to the dealership. I'm no mechanic but it seemed to me to be turbo related. The service department first thought it was bad gas so they drained it and refilled it. no change. Next, they waited 2 weeks for some valve to be delivered as it was the next step in the diagnostic manual. This was installed yesterday and made no difference. They are now waiting direction from some tech division of Acura. Meanwhile I am without my RDX and my wife is stuck stuffing the kids into a CSX. I am getting EXTREMELY agrevated. My RDX is only 6 months old with 16,000Km's. I bought an Acura to avoid these headaches. Has anyone experienced something similar relating to mechanical problem. Also, anyone have advice for bitching to Acura.....this is a lease and I want my lease payment for the month comp'd since it has sat at the dealerships parking lot for nearly this long.

Thanks in advance,

have u called Acura directly and opened a claim/complaint?

they have to at least try to fix the problem first, before you can talk about changing out the vehicle. if they cant fix it, i think rest assured they will get a resolution for you.

these things take time, and you are leasing and not owning, so if the part took 2 weeks to come in theres not much you can do except wait and be aggrevated.

i went thru this same BS with the mazda CX-7....they bought my car back and i got the Acura. ur lucky its only 3 weeks, i bought a mazda and it took months for a resolution.

Are they giving you a loaner for the time being..that ain't rite man.
They should just replace the whole Turbo.
File a direct complaint to Acura.

they gave him a CSX. Nice little car to boot around

CSX for those living down south is a civic with a makeover and more. Its an exclusive car for Canada as its built as with the civic on the same chassis and I believe the same plant in Aliston, Ontario.

CSX Pics:

I had one as a loaner and I found it very impressive in terms of power but its just way to small for me or my family.

No new progress and now its the weekend. I'm starting to feel that they are inconveniencing me to possibly save money with the repair. Drop in a new turbo system and be done with it, instead of this diagnostics stuff. The CSX is a nice little car but I would have kept our Jetta TDI if I wanted a little car. Tonight is the first of many holiday engagements.....wish we could show up in our gleaming black RDX.

I found my old login name........I am also RDXandTSX owner.

Ahh, the CSX is the EL replacement. GL with the RDX in the shop. They should at least provide you with a loaner (available) of your choice.

Update: It has now been 8 weeks!

It has now been more than 8 weeks since I dropped off my RDX to get fixed. The dealership tried to tell us it was fixed last week but it clearly was not. When I asked them who they were trying to fool by claiming it was fixed they replied that well, it was better then when I brought it in. And when I requested a suitable replacement to my Rdx over the holidays they told me there was nothing they could do. My wife and I have been more than understanding and patient with this situation.....until now. Talking with friends, they all say they would not put up with this. We are now looking into exactly what are options are. At this point we want out of our lease and the RDX all together. If anyone has some experience in a simialr situation I'd love to hear from them. Someone posted in this thread that Mazda bought back a car from them?

I have bought an RDX and a TSX from the same dealership in the past 8 months and expected better customer service than what I am getting at this point. I hope Acura and the dealership can resolve this to my satisfaction in the end.

Um, lawsuit.
Seriously, file directive complaint.
Ask them to give you a MDX to replace the RDX.
You paid for an ACURA, not a lemon.
This is totally unacceptable, go tell them to give you a new RDX or a MDX, for your slated inconvience.

No lemon law in Canada. There is CAMVAP which is an arbitration agency. Mixed reviews on their process and outcome seeing as though this agency was formed by the auto manufacturers. I really hope Acura will work with us to resolve issue before we file with CAMVAP.

have u opened a complaint with Acura directly yet? Start a complaint, they will start a file on your situation, 8 weeks is really unheard of, the car should be replaced if they cannot fix the problem.

what are you waiting for? u should be bullshit. 2 months without a car you are paying for is rediculous.

Its time to take drastic actions. Its better then what it was before is not good enough.

Call acura canada and see what they say.

I started a file with Acura Canada customer relations after week 3. They are fully aware of the situation. To date they haven't been much help.

To fill you in, the problem with the vehicle is that there is a vibration and bogging noise. It is most noticable from 1800 to 2600 RPM. At highway speeds the rearview mirror vibrates enough that the image is blurry. The bogging noise is a cross between a high performance exhaust and a diesel engine on a cold morning. Also, when you turn the ignition off the car kinda sputters out.

I'd tell them you want a new vehicle or else...

wastegate or a seal?? But that's what sucks about buying a car in the first year. You are really test the long term tester fishing out all the problems. They same thing happened with my RDX and the rear diff. They didn't know what was wrong with so they just replaced the whole thing. I think that they actually just took one off the lot. Your service guys may just not know what is the cause and they are stalling.

Not giving you an equal loaner is just wrong. They could at least give you a TSX.

No updates yet. Acura's specialized Techs and the Dealership's General Manager are off on holidays until Jan.2.

I've been waiting for their return since Dec.21.
