Hey all, long time lurker here, but despite my searching, I can't find much on this one (sorry if I failed up a storm searching, but I did try for a good few hours).

My 07 RDX starts, runs and drives like a charm, but every 3 or 4 times I go to start it, it'll just not even try to turn over. Auxiliary power comes on, battery is full, all is well, but I turn the key and literally nothing happens. Then if I pull the shifter down out of park and back into it (e.g. P->R->P), it fires up no problem at all.

I'm not sure if this is maybe a range switch going bad or what, but like I say, it's only every handful of times. I did recently change the ignition switch after having that common 07-08ish Honda "buzz" but everything was perfect for a good couple months after that and then this started. Doesn't seem related, but thought it worth mentioning.

 

sounds like a range switch/neutral safety switch to me


may just be something spilled into the shifter assembly and needs cleaning too

 

check ignition switch and neutral switch.
