07-09 Left Rear Seat Rattle

Had this TSB performed on my 08. absolutely ZERO SOUND coming from the back seat now, christ what a relief. There is a newly designed part/hinge. I have the TSB # on my paper work and will post next time i go out to the car.

if your 2007-2009 rear seat is: creaking, knocking, banging, shaking etc this tsb solves it all. ive been living with this insane thing since the beg of last year.

Nice, glad there was a fix. I've had a very irritating rattle in my TSX since day one. Realized a couple weeks ago what the problem is - always thought it was the sunroof, but in fact, the entire roof of the car flexes when pushed in.

At any rate, these sounds can be maddening, so at least yours got fixed.

What is that TSB number? My seats are normally down unless my kids are in them, but I have heard that in the past. I used to think it was the hatch but then forgot about it since they are down most of the time.

Thanks!

not sure if this is exactly what they did for me, they did this TSB last year, but it didnt do a thing, i checked my paper work and the TSB referenced is the same but they replaced the actual latch which i think is what did it.

i had my rear seat worked on under the tsb a handful of times with no results fyi

I've had this fixed twice now. The first time they adjusted the latch as it was rattling. The second time it was squeaking so the lubricated it. So for now it is quiet.

Funny I came across this thread this morning. I just made an appointment to have this exact thing fixed (hopefully fixed) next week. Not that I knew it was this exact thing until I saw this thread. For 2 weeks this rattle has been annoying me. Put the seat down to put my son's bike in the back and poof, no rattle. Guess I'll drive with seat down for now.

On a side note. Has anyone had an issue with a rattle when the rear center armrest is down. Seems the 'cheap' plastic inside rattles.

Put me down on the list as well. I've been to the dealer three time for this issue...looks like its going to be a fourth this weekend. I might as well drive with rear seat folded down. thats' the only workaround to quiet the annoying 'knock' noise.

Just had it in today to dealer. They say my 'rattle' is coming from the rear armrest. They ordered parts and will fix next week. (we'll see)
Meanwhile driving with left part of seat down for peace and quiet.

My RDX started rattling rather loud from the driver side rear seat this summer. I simply rolled some cloth around where the backseat latch clicks and locks and BINGO no more rattle! I also did the passenger side just incase. Also added some "cushioning" to the rails on the rear deck lid. My RDX actually seems pretty quiet now, even over bumps, for such a radically stiff riding vehicle!! I'm satisfied. I hate to have the dealer mess with stuff unless it's critical.

the back seat was critical imo, critical for my sanity. the thing would bang off the latch with people seated in the seat.

Just got back from dealer. They replaced collar around rear armrest and test drove car, low and behold seat still rattled. They performed left seat latch repair re service bulletin.

All's quiet now.

That's pretty scary Mike. My "temp fix" seems to be holding up but still have almost two years left on the warrantee if it gets worse. I just hate to have the dealer mess with the car unless absolutely necessary.

Yep! I have/had the same problem. Acura fixed twice, but both times about 4-6 months later it started again.

It just started again about 2-3 weeks ago for my 08 RDX, but since I'm out of the 4year/50,000 warranty I'm scared to get it fixed. I don't wanna pay for it.

Thanks for all the info. I'll take a look at it myself in the afternoon!

Yea, I have that problem too. It use to only creak when I put weight on now, but now it creaks/rattles even when I'm just resting my arm on top!

I just had the TSB accomplished on my 2007. It is the only creaking noise my car makes and I had been driving with that seat down most of the time...

So - I took her to the dealer for an oil change, the rear seat TSB and one the TPMS from one tire that was consistently 7lbs high. They gave me a 2010 TL loaner with 500 miles. It smelled so nice.

They did all their work and also said I had a leaking rear strut that they replaced under wty also. I had read about that being an issue and checked mine a few times. Never saw a leak, but happy that they did and changed it before I asked them to.

The TSB didn't fix my noise 100%... maybe 50-70% less noise than before, but since I am listening for it, I hear it....
Got home and wrapped a very small amount of hockey tape around the latch and the noise is 100% gone now... Maybe that should be the TSB instructions!

Amen...

I just had this done this week and the bass seem tighter due to the rattling gone. Even the buzzing from some of the tones the rear full range drivers emit is gone.

I've had for a few months now the same annoying creaking/rattling/banging noise in my 08RDX-Tech which i thought was coming from the suspension. After reading XIS post with his hockey tape solution-i followed his suggestion and it worked !!! - Noise is gone...
Thanks XIS....

I brought my car in twice for this same problem and the rattle is still there!! They told me not to slam the seat back into position which I don't do. I kinda gave up on them fixing it so now I have a piece of paper towel wrapped around the latch and no rattle!!!

In an ironic twist of fate...Mine was rattling and driving me nuts. Then, about three weeks ago, I took it in for service and the lot boy returned the seat back to it's upright position but failed to notice that latch had been closed by accident and in the process bent the tab so it no longer rattles.

I used about 4-5 inches of good quality (rubbery/strechy) electrical tape. That wrapped about 7-8 times around the metal "striker" that the latch attaches around when you put the seat up.
Problem solved! I will get the TSB done (updated latch assbly) if/when I take it in to the dealer for something else while my warranty is still good. But for now the electrical tape works great. No more rattle.

I hauled a couple mountain bikes around this weekend and after putting everything back in place this rattle showed up and its VERY annoying and constant.

My RDX is an 08 that I just bought certified but its over 50k miles. I wonder if this TSB will be covered.

Thanks for the tape tip. Might end up using that solution.

I had this adjusted about half a dozen times -- more or less every time I came in for an oil change. I think they finally got it fixed the last time I was in (~2 weeks)!

The link to the TSB does not work. Can someone post a new link or the TSB number?
