Wait for Hondata?

Hi all,
We just bought a 2007 RDX (Tech) to add to our collection. (2005 TL/Tech, 2006 Subaru Forester XT (very modified))

The RDX is mainly for my wife as I drive the Forester. The TL is for my daycare provider (my mother in law) hauling my kids around.

The RDX has 55K miles. I am debating on doing the Hondata now or waiting a few months. There is still some powertrain warranty left. I am new to the world of Honda/Acura aftermarket and I am a little concerned about doing the Hondata flash now. If something were to happen and I go in for warranty service, do Acura dealers "look" for an aftermarket tune? Do they have the ability to look? I fear having an issue come up, going into the dealer and having them not cover/voiding the remainder of the warranty.

In the Subie world, some/many dealers look for it so you need to go back to stock before going in. (I am Cobb Accessport tuned)

My guess is that tuned RDX's are quite rare (compared to Subies) and dealers don't look for that. I am ok with a dealer wiping the ECU. (I can eat the $75 retune fee)

My thoughts were to drive the car for a few months to see if there are any powertrain issues and then if it all shakes out ok, go for the reflash.
But whenever I drive the RDX (coming from my very modified Forester) I seem to be yearning for more power. I am impressed with how low the turbo starts to spool. I have to get my Forester up there in RPMs to hit my peaks.

Hmmmm...what to do?

$300 reflash then $75 to go back then your back To 0 and $375 In the Red.. Your best bet is to buy the ecu with reflash and sawap it at will ebery time you take it in.. if San Onofreyou got the cash. If you do take readings 0-60 before and after reflash and post it.

My dealership in NM is unaware of Hondata, comptech S/C, K-pro, Progress RSB, eibach springs, Ronjon, etc... It is just a bunch of old dudes supplementing their retirement. Most of the buyers are older folks that will only tint the windows as a mod.

Unless the reflash caused the problem, is the only way you will not be covered. So far, I haven't heard of anyone having a reflash problem in the last 4 years with the RDX or TSX. I've been 12 months on my RDX reflash with no problems.

^ what he said.. if you have a tranny issue the stealership isnt gonna look at the ecu they are gonna look at the tranny and make there decision based on that.. only time they will look at your ECU is when they have to place an update for it. or if you are running a check engine light and they need to get the codes, even then they wont notice the difference unless you put the Hondata sticker on it.. then they might think something is up..

all in all get the reflash, stay away from putting the sticker on it and keep your mouth shut if you have an issue and need to take it in..

Mine is finally out of warranty and I want the sticker on there so in case the dealer wants to do anything to the ECU, they will be notified and in turn, hopefully let me know their plans.
