turbo lag?

just purchased an RDX 5 months ago but i live in winnipeg so i have only recently been able to open her up without spinning tirelessly on ice. I have noticed that it take a couple seconds for it to launch. I know turbo lag could cause this but it seems a little extreme. I couldnt even spin the tires off the line if i wanted to. Does anyone know if this is normal? I plan on getting the reflash soon which might partially correct the problem but is there anyting i can do for now to fix it? Let me know if your having the same problem or if this is something to do with the ecu making adjustments to fix knock. thanks

Drew

Sounds normal to me. I think you would need +400 HP to burn rubber with sh-awd off the line (or really bald tires). The RDX is the slowest Acura vehicle to 15-20 mph because of the sh-awd, +4,000 lbs, and 2.3L engine only making around 30hp at 2500 rpms before the turbo kicks in.

You can always brake with your left foot and rev the engine to its limiter when stopped (I think 4500 rpms). This will build your boost faster and improve your launch and 0-60 times.

I have the reflash and the turbo boost kicks in a little faster, harder and longer compared to stock. The RDX is more of a low-mid range speed demon instead of a drag racer.

what cold air intake would you recommend and where would be the best place to get it. As far as the new to turbo comment, I used to have a 2 liter turbo audi A3 and that thing hauled ass off the line. Thats why i was curious as to why it takes my RDX soo long to get going but it forget sometimes how big it actually is because it drives like a sports car. Turning the traction control off is usually the first thing i do.

There are three types out there K&N, CP-E and Weapon R. Everyone seems to like which one they have so it is all preference. You can find them by doing a google search, and checking e-bay.

takes a little more than stomping the throttle; learn how to ease on the pedal w/the RDX and react to its powerband....more experience and time behind the wheel will eliminate most of what you are dealing with...car needs a bit of time in figuring out. whether its a slight slight accel THEN STOMP or whatever works for ya..feather the pedal out a bit and u should be fine

I get my ECU back from HONDATA monday or tuesday for my 2010. Looking forward to it after all the discussions about the REFLASH.
