Transmission Issues
Transmission Issues
Hey guys, I'm having transmission issues after doing a brake boost launch while racing with a friend. I'm pretty sure it's the Torque converter cause the shifts a slushy and when I'm in normal drive, it sometimes won't downshift when I put my foot down. Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket torque converter?
what modifications do you have? unless you never maintained the trans you shouldn't be having mechanical issues. maybe solenoids like he mentioned or maybe your bands need adjustment.?.

check the fluid.. you have a little less miles than i do.. 91k on mine. I drive it hard.. no launches but im abusive. I am going to do a tranny flush on my very soon. If the fluid smells burnt and is dark brown you need to change it.
How does it sound w/o the resonator?
One thing to check is see if it has a "set" or "pending" code with an OBDII scan. The shift solenoid "A" stuck on is PO752. The shift solenoid "B" stuck on is PO757. Either can also be stuck off. These are just a couple of the many power train codes.
But we all agree you need to change the fluid by now.
I never got the service code to do the trans fluid change and finally went ahead and did a dump and fill, and repeat at least annually.

what fluid does everyone use? Stock acura fluid fine? I bought magnet pickups for the oil pan and the trans. The only thing with dump and fills is you never get all of the old fluid out of the converter. A simple flush hooked up to the cooler lines will totaly get all the old fluid out.. I am looking into a diy on howto do it without a flush machine.. i was thinking of using a big bottle sticking the hose from one side into it and have the other dump into another bucket, fire the car up. I dont know if the tranny will pump fluid in park or will i have to have it in drive? I might just build somthing with a small pump to do the same job.

I was hoping for more out of the exhaust. Its barely louder than stock but gives a little more rumble. Went to Acura this past weekend and they said that the problem is probably a dead knock sensor.
Wold love to hear a sound sample.
But if it had a bad knock sensor it would set a code for that malfunction. See post #9 ^
If you used a Scan Tool...
scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool scan tool...you'd know for yourself.
Borrow one if needed.
And if my car had a "probably dead knock sensor" I'm pretty sure I'm not going to drive it until the problem is resolved!?
