Hey Guys, we also might be building an intake depending if Marco wants to keep the CP-E or have us build one and dyno test it.

I will keep you guys updated with what goes on. Do any of you need an intake besides him?

Thanks,

Michael

Yes, please provide info...

I'm keeping the cp-e intake, but have not installed it yet (need screws and a heat sheild). So I will not be participating in R&D for an ETS intake.

Sniff, sniff.

ETS - Michael
Will any attempt be made to find another RDX to fit up an ETS CAI?

I am very interested.

Hi Michael,

Are you going to send us tracking numbers? I'm shipping to my work address, so I'd like to give the back room guys a heads up. Also, will installation instructions be provided?

Thanks!

Went up to ETS yesterday and picked mine up. Saw the facility and such. Busy place, looks like they are doing well for themselves.... encouraging to see a car parts shop doing so well in these times. We talked about doing a downpipe in the near future, definitely a possibility.

There are no install instructions. Not that they're really needed. I hope to do the install on mine in the next couple days and will take lots of pix. I'll post them up on my blog to help people out with the "DIY" side of this.

Hopefully have it all by the time the new cores are in.

Got my datalogger and did some testing yesterday. Worked with my buddy Vit and got it working with the eDyno.

This is the very first 3rd gear pull I've done on this car...lol. It was pouring rain out and I ran out of road so I couldn't take it all the way up to 6800. I'll also be trying different combinations of datalogging to see if I can get the sample rate up for smoother graphs. Also, this is THE COMPLETELY STOCK CAR. I have not installed the ETS TMIC or the Cp-e intake. They are both sitting in my living room waiting for me...lol...

So what you're seeing is estimated hp/tq based on the aerodynamics of the car. It also shows the AFR and boost pressure of the car at WOT. Ignore the target AF line, that's for tuning.

Here's another graph with a little more tweaking on the aero values and the proper vehicle/passenger weight.

Finished the install on mine a few hours ago. I had a couple issues, but worked around them. Haven't driven the car yet unfortunately, took tons of pix though.

Hmm, didn't even think about that. I have my old one from the Si I could cut down and put on. I also measured the throttle body while I had the IC off. Just a hair under 63mm. I have a TSX 68mm TB sitting here. Pondering installing it to see what happens.

Minor stuff, oversights on tapping threads in a couple spots. And it's likely just something that happened on my IC. I detailed the issues in an email to ETS so they can make sure it doesn't affect others. I have tons of spare nuts/washers/bolts laying around from building several cars... so I just dug around to find hardware to work around the oversights. I'm not stressing it. The IC is installed and I have no doubt it'll be trouble free. Ironically, I still haven't had time to drive the car. Too much stuff going on around here.

Also, I mentioned this on the blog post, but figured I should say it again here. Have some Ultra Grey or Hondabond HT on hand for sealing the bpv flange.

It looks like mucter beat me on updates on install been super busy .But ran into the same problems the bracket that holds the plastic cover shroud needed some washers so it would not be loose and also used hondabond ht on the bpv flange . Here are some pics

Yup I had to do washers in the same spot. Glad you got yours installed. I still haven't had a chance to take the car out and see how it feels. LOL.

I took her out today it was snowing a bit but I rip it up and she feels great very smooth but it's hard to describe now compared to before . I just wanted someone to pull up next to me to test her out but none took the bait . But there is plenty of power from a launch or 60mph roll it just takes off but it's very very very smooth .

I went out to get another 3rd gear pull for comparison, but didn't start at the right point in the road so the readings are a bit off. Even then it does show some gains, just not much. The intercooler by itself is just a subtle change to the car. I'll bet it's a lot nicer when you've done more mods to the car.

This is all I've got for now, a few hp/tq, but if I'd started at the right point in the road, I think this would show more like 10+ on each... (the point in the road is important because of hill/crest and resistance) I just need to go out again another night. Don't like to do too many pulls up to 100mph on the street :bleh:

Now I really want to install my CAI. And can I just say, god damn this car runs rich.

Thank you for sharing.

I can't believe the RDX loses so much HP in the drive train, we are basically losing 60HP by the time it gets to the wheels.

Slush box + AWD, yeah it's a killer. That guy that wants to change the car to a manual transmission has a valid desire, would probably give you back 20-30whp. Too bad it'd be prohibitively expensive.

Just went out and got another pull while the weather was ideal. Looks to me like peak gains are really only about 5hp/5tq, but the overall curve is improved. A consistent bump in torque in the low end, which echos Marco's butt dyno impressions. Basically, peak torque is bumped down about 500-600rpm, which is a good thing. A little bit added on the top end, but not much. I'm going to move onto installing my CP-E intake and see how that does.

Thanks for sharing.

Having removed yours, do you see any obvious ways to make the stock i/c perform better?

Radius the i/d on the inlet and outlet?

Ice h2o sprayer/w washer (w/2 shut off valves & drain pan)

Could you please post a couple of pics of the stock inlet and outlet.

The inlet and outlet on the stock cooler are both plastic, so there's no modification to be made there.

There's very very little space between the IC and the motor, I highly doubt you'd fit anything beneath it to catch water.
