guys

any problems throwing 20's on the RDX...i never thought there would be, but a few of my friends mentioned that 20's may cause probs w/the differential

thoughts? concerns? let me know...about to pull the trigger on 20's, now im rethinking to 19's

How would it cause a problem? I tend to notice when you talk to a group of guys, someone always had a tidbit of info that sounds mildly intelligent, until you dive into it and he's just a guy trying to sound smart.

As long as the rolling diameter is the same on each corner and within about 5% of stock, I can't think of anything that would be a problem.

came from a guy with 5 cars, 2 being over 200k & around 800hp lol. even tho that may not equal an intelligence level, i dont throw his opinions out the window either lol.

but i couldnt come up with a good reason why 20's would cause a problem, it was the first i heard of it, maybe when ur changing rim size on a car with 800+ hp & awd, then thats a different story, he mentioned it quickly, i didnt have a chance to follow up, just caught me off guard

I agree with cwepruk, if the outside (rolling) diameter of the tire is the same or close to stock and it's equal all around, then the car will not know anything is different.(Conversely, if the outside diameter was substantially larger or smaller, then it would affect the speedometer and GPS.)

It might be possible that the mass or weight distribution of a 20 will cause the diff to work harder to sling it around though.

Yeah, I could see a slight issue with the added weight maybe somehow taking a bit of a toll on bearings or something - not the differentials though, but keep in mind, Acura has 19's as an accessory and tons of people run +1 or +2 sizing on numerous vehicles without any issue.

I have the TSW Londrina's in gunmetal. I am running 245/55/20 on 8.5" with 40 backspacing. No problems even with the Eibach springs that were installed almost two years ago.

Sorry I got that reversed on the tire size.

255/45/20 is what I have. I'll go with 275's next time I buy tires for a more "meaner" stance.

This calculator works really well for getting the size tire you want. On the right side look for "Scaled Tire Images" and use the drop-down box to choose front and side view.

Not at this time. It's in the shop. Hadn't taken any since I put them on. Been too busy doin' knife stuff. Just getting back into the car stuff again. As soon as I can I'll get some up if you hadn't bought already. The all chrome look is a little more expensive.
