I'm not to sure about it, I still have my stock turbo on and it still performs awesome after 115k. That turbo that you see was an extra turbo that I bought for the upgrade.

looks good!! was it just spray painted or is it an actual coating? cant wait till you install it i am very curious if the clipping is really worth it.. they went with a 17t wheel didnt they? did they have to machine the cover to make it fit??

I'm sure it's a coat. Yes, it is a 17t. He said, if you go to big it could throw off the turbo and cause to much pressure in the cylinder and blow a head gasket. He did machine the cover just a bit. The turbo is water cooled btw, look in the middle of the turbo that is where the coolant goes.

Also, please do more research on that 17T compressor wheel. I've never heard of it. I've done lots of research on the TD04 turbo lineup and from what I can tell it doesn't exist. I've got a complete list of Mistubishi turbo for all cars from a Mitsubishi authorized parts distributor. You are welcome to sift through it. Maybe it's a non OEM size?
It looks bigger than a 19T and if so be careful. 19T are supposed to be in a bigger housing. Some said it throws off the maps and starts generating a ton of heat. You've been warned.
This Mitsubishi turbo stuff is new to Honda guys, but old to Subaru and Volvo guys. I really encourage you do more research.

Well, I guess it will come down to your dyno charts.... You can't just put on an updated turbo and expect it to run properly. So, if you have them post em, if not chill with the hostility...

Why would I do more research, that is what I paid them to do.

Lol, believe my I have a plenty of experience with turbo charged cars and their needs. My build is a little more complex than this and isn't on an RDX, I posted because you guys are finally going through what I went through 2 years ago. No hostility here, just don't like being called a liar when I'm providing truthful/helpful information to the community.

That may be the case for you, but some members here may like to know more than what a shop will tell them. That's why places like this and k20a[dot]org and honda-tech[dot]com exist.
I love what you're doing with your car, but know that there is more information to be know.

Not sure, but I have the 17t. The shop said that if you go to big it could throw off the turbo, and could possibly blow a head gasket.

For those of you that plan to remove the turbo for anything, like; upgrade, replacing parts, etc. I will tell you that it is no easy task. On a scale from 1-to-10 I would rate the removal and install a 7.5 on difficult. I was solo doing the removal and install, so maybe if you have another person it maybe easier; not sure. You will have to drain the radiator fluid because our turbo is water cooled and has coolant running through it. The easiest way to remove the turbo is by removing the valve cover. It made it easy to just pull from the top with no issues, but you have to use those muscles thought. Damn thing is heavy. An oil change would hurt either, while you go the car apart. Nap time! good stuff ken . i'm right behind !!! and yeah those turbo swaps stink. I drop the subframe when I do them . so much more room and those vaccum lines suck. can't wait to see the dyno results.

Yeah, vacuum lines were crazy. But once you get the valve cover off, it's a piece of cake.
