RV6 is looking for RDX in the Chicago area to develop a downpipe, intercooler and reflash. The tester will get free or heavily discounted parts.

It is hard to say I would estimate pricing to be around ~$400 for the downpipe. A high flow cat option shouldn't be a problem. Not sure on in the intercooler. With proper tuning my tuner estimates a 50+WHP gain.

Hey guys, we had a local member drop off his RDX today. We are currently removing the stock downpipe and will be digitizing it tomorrow. We should have some ideas soon. From the looks of things we might need to go with a custom casting or stainless pipe. There is no way tubing will hold up reliably in this application. I will keep you guys posted.

stainless pipe seems to be the cheaper route

Finally got the stock downpipe out. We plan on trying 2.875" ID pipe fittings tomorrow which will be much stronger then your typical exhaust tubing. First thing will be custom mill some flanges.

will you be doing a 3 inch downpipe and a 3 to a 2.5 mid pipe so it can still be bolted to a stock exhaust? or will you be doing 3inch all the way down??

We were able to use off the shelf fittings that matched perfectly. No need for custom castings we can have this part ready to ship soon.

3.5 down is awesome i think i read somewhere that the opening for the turbo is 3.25 or 3.5 so to have it match close to that is great! cant wait to see the numbers once its done!

I haven't had the chance to really look under my wifes rdx yet on a lift. Is the downpipe flange the standard 3 bolt flange? Awesome if it is. Need to have my friend weld one up.

^ you mean keep a cat on the midpipe not the downpipe correct? and this one looks to be better then the one you are getting.. this will fit the turbo opening better..
i already discussed with my other half and once product and pricing is confirmed done i will be placing a purchase the question is do i want it coated or not seems like the coating adds another 100$ or so to the price

I know there are good gains to be had from this, but I am starting to question anything above a 20-30HP gain...which is still nothing to scoff at. A couple of dynos posted with the Hondata flashpro (and tuned) suggested that you might be able to get ~50HP with BOTH the flashpro and a down/midpipe combo (and exhaust and CAI). That is where the RDX should be anyways, but 50HP as a standalone mod (or combined with an exhaust) may be stretching reality a bit.
Would love someone to prove me wrong with a dyno, tho...
At any rate, I know there are healthy gains with this mod so bring it on!

hp can be found easily on a turbo vehicle.. i read somewhere that the downpipe netted someone 30hp but thats with both cats removed.. and i know for a fact the ETS TMIC nets 10hp to the wheel.. i am sure a combo of the 2 would be on par for 40hp since they would compliment each other well. once you add an intake and full exhaust back you may see another 10-15hp and thats not with the flashpro added

The design is finished we are working on the tooling and jigs so that we can replicate the first one perfectly.
Correct. Delete the cat on the downpipe and have a good hi flow cat on the midpipe. That is what I was trying to have made. It looks like these guys can have it done much faster. If it's a good price that could seal the deal. I have to be able to bolt the assembly to a 3" exhaust. The connector to the exhaust is like one of the triangular types like in the last photo above posted by Richie V6.
