New ECU and Reflash?!

I have a question for you guys with reguards to Hondata and a new ECU.
Ok, we know that you can go out and buy a brand new ECU and get it reflashed by Hondata. We know that the Maintenace Minder will start at 100% oil life and the other service notifications are monitored in the gauge cluster [please correct me if i am wrong on that!] so that they will not be affected.
And we know that the immobiliser is "deacivated" with the 'new ecu reflash' also.
It is also evident that the dealer can have the new ECU reprogramed to work with your 'key chip' and thusly the immobiliser re-established [plse clarify if you can or if needs be].
Which brings me to my question; For those of us that do not live in the continental US etc and as a result dont have a 'dealer' to drive to,how can we get the/a new ECU programed for the keys etc? Can we just carry the new flashed ECU to the dealer (in hand ofcourse) along with the key and VIN number and get it done? Or is it a situation were you have to have the vehicle present to get it accomplished?

I can't answer your questions, but I've swapped the stocker and Hondata back a couple times now (in, out, in, out) and only the first time did the oil life reset to 100%.

I put the stocker back in right away and it went back to 40%. When I swapped the Hondata back in a few month later, it kept the same 60% as the stock ECU. I swapped my stock ECU back in later, and it was the same as with the Hondata - so maybe the 100% my first time was a fluke or a first time only issue.

You can set the engine oil life yourself, to what ever you want. I changed the oil, then swaped the ecu out and let my girl take the car for a trip, before I was able to change the oil life. When she returned I just set mine to 90%.

I played with the "I" button, and the arrow buttons when I saw the oil life display on the little screen. If you hold it in I believe you can get it into reset mode. At the time I was playing with the mpg and reseting it while doing city driving and comparing it to highway drivng to see the realworld mpg's on the vehicle because I had just got it. I can't tell exactly how or what to do, but everything you need is in those three little buttons. It's been a while, sorry.

You can reset the oil life. With the oil life showing, hold the middle (I) button for 10-15 seconds, then an option will pop up to reset the oil life/maintenance minder.

Oil Life

If you can't figure out how to reset the oil life to the previous displayed number, you can always recall the last time you changed the oil, add 7k miles to that and that's when you need to change it again... At that point you can reset it to 100% and you're back on-track... Some recommend changing your oil sooner with the K23 turbo, but really that's all the oil life percentage display and reminder is good for...

Don't mean to be smart... just letting you know there's no complicated algorithms to it.. it's just a mileage thing.

Anyways... back to the topic!

To program a new ECU for your keys can you just walk into the dealer with the ECU and your key in hand to get it done OR does your vehicle have to be present at the dealer to get it done???????

I believe if you have a maintenance manual, it goes through how to program your key with the immobilizer unit by going through a long tribal dance... but it does involve using the vehicle to program it, because you stick the new key in the ignition turn it on, pull it out, press the unlock button, etc... etc...
