Intake filter replacement or cone filter?

I'm pretty excited, I just sent out my ECU to Hondata for a reflash and can't wait to get it back... I did want to ask in the meantime, if I want a little more performance, will the K&N OEM intake filter replacement be an improvement enough to spend $50? Working with a limited budget now () and don't want to fork out another $300 for a cone filter... What are your thoughts?

Stock Data

**Disclaimer: this was done on a contry road (some minor ups/downs) with 3 guys and a full tank of gas so worst-case scenario, but we plan to do it again the same way after the reflash

Dynolicious is an app on the new I-phones you can get for $13 that basically generates this data... it sounds cheezy, but it is fairly accurate based on comparing this data to the published information on several cars we have tested with this app!!

Yes, I powerbraked, but just to about 3k RPM, not sure if I optimized that method or not- i'm sure it helped... I thought I read somewhere, someone got the RDX in the 6.9 0-60 times by power-braking... after this data with mine, I find that hard to believe...

Still waiting on my Hondata ECU, should be in today or tomorrow... I plan to update this post with "before and after" comparrison.

If you plan to get rid of your K&N drop in (once u get the CAI), and willing to ship, please let me know... I may purchase, depending on the price.

RDX had been clocked in mid 6 second ranges when first reviewed, not sure specifically by MT or CD, but it has been done.

I probably aughta shed the other two dudes when doing testing and use a little better technology than an i-phone... I still find it hard to see a stock RDX go a FULL SECOND faster than mine in 0-60... I wonder if there's a trick I'm missing... I was power-braking at 3k rpm and everything.

If you still want the drop in K&N, let me know. I bought a drop in first, then the CAI with the cone filter. The drop in might have 10k miles, but I'll clean it before shipping it.

what's your price? if it's right, I'm down... do you do paypal?

Just got the ECU back today... didn't get much of a chance to mash it around my hometown... too many cops/lights...it definitely feels prominently different at the higher rpms... not so much below 4k...

I'll update with stats once I get the "after" dynolicious results.

if/when installing, make sure you KNOCK OUT THE FILTER on a countertop or something; dont rely just on cleaning, shaking etc...

this may be more common sense and you would prob do it anyways, but i just wana reiterate it because...a lot of shit is trapped between the weaves and you jsut may not think about it after a thorough cleaning etc.! My filter had trapped a decent amount of SAND, like an amt that surprised me (prob from summer @ the beach more than anything)

filter may look squeaky clean, but make sure ya get as much out as possible

Blacura,

Tried to send you a PM, but it doesn't look like you're set up for it. Try to send me one.

I hope to get the CP-E intake soon but the K&N drop-in will have to do for now. I'm really shooting for a set of whels/tires first.
