Hondata reflash and break in period
Hello everyone - new 2012 RDX non-tech owner here. After reading posts and reviews, I believe the Hondata reflash is the way to go. I'm currently at about 300 miles and still in the break in period. Should I wait until I have a few more miles before reflashing or does it matter? Any general advice on breaking things in? I've been pretty gentle with everything and have only occasionally have gone above slightly 4000 RPMs. I'm varying my revs by just driving normally around town and have avoided long stretches at a constant RPM. Thanks.

I think that you should drive it like how you drive normally On the break in. The hodata is nice to have but you will have to wait for a week or two for the ecm to come back to you as hondata are kinda busy now.

I guest it just depends on how busy they are then because when i sent mine out i was going to next ship it but when the shop called them they said that they were really busy and can not get to it for 2 or 3 days. So it was kinda pointless for me anyways

This is why Hondata can be elitist jerks, make arrogant comments right here on AZ and you all keep putting up with the poor customer service. If another company were to spring up, hmm, let's see, maybe in Oregon...there is no doubt the service would be better and the price lower.

Break in should be drive for 10 minutes and let it be nice and warm then step on the gas till red line as much as you want for about 2k then change the oil and your set. Worked great on my Si civic, netted teh best baseline dyno pull when I drove it down to california to have work done at GoPower motorsports, granted driving that many kms probably helped, or maybe the Royal Purple XPR racing oil. Main thing is not to beat on it right after an oil change or when its cold. I really want a reflash but don't want to exclusively use 94 octane and have my car down for a couple days for the turn around time. Reflash should be 250.00 is it not....

It's $295, plus whatever the fee from the dealer is, I'll go with churchautomotive, no need to look for a local dealer, I can just overnight it to church and according to church, they get the tune from hondata the same day.
Hondata tune is good to go in my book, never heard problems from having it and it improves performance for real with no CEL.

If you have not done this yet, go to .com; no need to find a local dealer. Just pay by paypal or cc and the email you everything you need, then drop it off at FedEx pay for shipping and they will pay for your return shipping. total cost for me was $290 + FedEx shipping to Hondata. ultra fast turn around.

I don't see why you can't get Hondata at anytime; but, follow the normal engine/transmission break-in period recommended by Acura? You still would not run to redline, tow, or run it for extended amount of miles at a constant speed until X amount of miles on the odo while breaking in a new engine without Hondata.
I’ve had Hondata on my 08 RDX for +2 years with ZERO problems, extra power, and improved gas mileage (just an extra 1 mpg combined, I'll take it!). Sent my ECU off on Monday at lunch, arrived on Tuesday at Hondata, sent back to me on Wednesday morning for $295+overnight shipping both ways.

Hondata can kiss my white...
...the combination of their poor customer relations and arrogant attitude will keep me from EVER buying from them.

I can see your bitterness, they were short with me when I called them a few years ago to ask about something; and I do remember seeing their comments here on AZ. Unfortunately, they are the only show in town (the country) that can do anything ECU related with the RDX and since the new 2013 RDX is non-turbo no one else can profitably compete. I hear your pain; but once you driven with the ECU reflashed all the bitterness goes away and the frown is turned upside down.

I still won't buy from them. Trading for an FR-S, so long RDX.
Sorry for the Hijack C66.

I would say that 300 for a base map is another reason to hate. I myself wont ever buy a re flash from them either. The man him self comes to vegas even to tune, and still wont tune a rdx locally. cobb is missing out.
