Custom 3" exhaust in the works

Look what goodies came in today -

I am planning to do a custom 3" exhaust after my mid-pipe (Mid-pipe has a magnaflow 3" high-flow cat and 6" turbo flexpipe)

I went with the Magnaflow 14267 polish stainless steel muffler (Inlet 3" / Outlet 2.5") and Vibrant Ultra quiet 3" resonator.

Waiting on the exhaust tips to come in so I can make an appointment with the shop to see if the cost.

TMIC coming in next week but I plan on holding off installing it until I have the exhaust and get a feel of the extra power from it.

More pictures to come

I couldn't wait for the exhaust tips since the seller has not send me any tracking number yet.

The hardest/longest part is the exhaust system - I figure I do that first and come back when I have the exhaust tips.

Here are some few pictures with no exhaust tips yet.
Hopefully this can motive people to start modding their RDX.

I was worry the sound would be too loud but it almost didn't make any difference from my stock exhaust IMO. (Perhaps I am not reving it high)

The stock pipe was ridiculously small - a joke IMO.
High end on highways seems better but I have not really test it out yet.

Car on the lift -

Vibrant Ultra quiet 3" resonator

Magnaflow 14267 polish stainless steel muffler -

Magnaflow Hi-flow cat with Turbo Flex pipe on my mid pipe-

Almost finish product - without the exhaust tips yet.

Figure I re-lube my BPV and take a picture of my current setup for you guys.

I normally re-lube it every time I change my oil but I had time today.
Here is the picture of my forge bpv with my weapon R intake and AEM dry flow filter.

Hey JC,

We have an '11 also. Any chance of hearing an audio clip of your exhaust?

Don't know if you saw my fresh air mod?

Nice job, how do you like the sound?

Why did you keep the resonator?

What up Guys - I will try to make a sound clip once I have the exhaust tips install.
I installed the ultra quiet resonator to keep the sound down.

I am aiming more towards the performance side than sound since this is my daily commuter.
It is a little louder than the stock exhaust if you stomp on the pedal.

The exhaust def. has a deeper tone. Not sure if the tips would change the tone much.

Exhaust tips are installed this morning - I love it.

Just ordered some Rotora front and rear stainless steel brake lines.
It is made to order so it will take a few days to get done and another week to get ship to me.

Here are the pictures-

Jc - how does it sound? Post it up, please.

IMO it looks great until the last pic, from above looking down.

When seen from that angle it looks like the tips are too big to fit the o/e openings.

I wonder what it would look like if you had them trim the panel enough to tuck the tips back to flush at the top like o/e?

Cheers to the first q tip RDX.

I will try to get a sound clip this weekend.

I prefer to have the tips sticking out a little bit more because I don't want burnt exhaust look even though our +10 bumpers are black.

It fits perfectly and you can have it not stick out as much as I have it or get the dual tips that comes down in a angle like the TL Type S ones.

Looks very sweet. Exhaust is going to be my next upgrade. Had my front spoiler, side body molding, and rear diffuser install Friday. And just got my delivery from ETS and hopefully will have time to install next weekend. I should have did exhaust first - peformance, sound, and eye candy all in one upgrade.

I am in Brooklyn and Queens (Half of the time)

If you going with the similar setup like me - 3" all the way to the muffler 2.5.

You can get this tip - inlet 2.5" outlet 4" like the ATLP exhaust system.
Should fit nicely onto your bumper.

I would highly suggest the ultra quiet resonator.
It really helps keep the noise level down and gear more toward just for the performance.

No sound video yet - I try to record with my phone but it didn't get any sound from the exhaust.

You should see KenB350z videos - my exhaust is more quiet.
I will post one up once I find my digital camera.

Just the brake lines for now.
Maybe slotted/drill rotors with some ceramic brake pads once my stock wears out.
Unless there is a brake upgrade that doesn't cost a arm and a leg out there.

Thanks - I will try this weekend.

Trust me....the only upgrade that makes a difference in stopping power ( apart from the Rotora Big Brake kit that costs $2500, if you can find it), is the slotted/drilled rotors with ceramic pads for $250 on e-bay!!!

Ive done the EBC yellow pads and SS lines (which ruptured on me btw ), and none compare to the upgraded rotors and ceramic pads!

There should be a separate thread for brakes maybe

Awesome looking exhaust
Shows what a quality Exhaust Shop can do

Here's another way to do the tailpipe tips - it keeps the OEM staggered line with the bumper

Magnaflow is what I've got too right now, and I'm probably gonna run another muffler inline somewhere to tone down the drone on the interstate. Great sounding set-up though everyone says.

Get a ultra quiet resonator.
I was going to get a flowmaster muffler but ended up with the magnaflow.

Both muffler is good - I am happy with my magnaflow.
I try making a sound clip but it didn't pick up any sound. (Perhaps because if the resonator)

It is that quiet - I need to find someone to help me rev the car while I make a video.

I check with the seller last week and they did not offer the package anymore.
Just the front rotors and pads.
