Brake vibration

Seems as it is a well known issue with the first gen RDX, noticed after some hard braking the nasty vibration, mechanic told me due the heat the rotors got warped, the vibration goes away after several minutes without using the brakes,
Logical choice would be rotors upgrading, but somewhere I read the problem would go away upgrading the pads only, any advice will be geatly appreciated, see: in my country the only source for Acura parts are the dealer, so I must order from US, that is why I need to be sure before ordering any parts, I already learned EBC redstuff are a good choice, but I need to be sure before ordering.

Performance upgrade? If not I would take it back outside, you might get better response.

rotors probably need to be turned unless they are out of spec if they are out you will need new ones.. new pads are a must either way.. if you get new pads my suggestion would be RacingBrake ones they have good cold bite and great once heated as well.. if you are a track racer i would suggest Hawk hps pads..

Thanks again bluecarbonfiber, the rotors are OK, brakes were serviced a few months ago, but the vibration under repeated hard braking cames from new, as a matter of fact, my brother, the previous owner, claimed for this issue and he got rotors replacement under warranty, he is a speed driver, he had 3 Acuras, a TL, this RDX, and a MDX, he claims evey one had this vibration issue, I noticed this on twisty descending roads mainly, not in the city or suburb area; anyway it is good to know it is not mandatory to replace the rotors to get rid of the vibration, will search for the pads you suggested, will order online to an US address, then wait until someone goes, and bring them along.
That is how I got parts and gear for my bike.
I asked a mechanic in Guadalajara, second largest city in Mexico, he told me I could get Akebono pads other than OEM.

more aggressive pads may amplify the issue just to let you know.. you will need to have the rotors turned (resurfaced) before doing new pads.. good luck.. love the city been there a few times =) actually usually stay near nuevo vallarta

I see, can't recall where I read the vibration was not caused by warping rotors due heating, but it feels like it, it is not as common as I think?
Anyway will get good quality pads if vibration remains, I will get new rotors.
Actually I do live in Nuevo Vallarta area.
Thanks once more for your help on this issue, it is annoying, but can be fixed!

2014 RDX - 7000 miles First trip to the dealer response was brakes are "safe," thus no need to do anything. When I insisted on technician doing test drive, not just a visual inspection. He decided all four rotors needed to be resurfaced. Looking back, it seems rotors were a recurrent Acura problem back 2003. I also found a Dec 2010 Acura S/M. Although resurfacing did fix the problem for now, what are my chances that I won't have to deal with it again in 7000 miles? I am not a heavy braker. Any other 2014 RDX owners experiencing this problem?

I am almost as new to the RDX, but since this is the third Acura in my family, and each developed the braking vibration, seems to me it is a frequent issue, on my short time as a member of this forum, I surfed a lot every post about brakes on the RDX forum, so I found sometimes the vibration goes away with better than OEM pads, most owners replaced the rotors along with the pads, mine were replaced less than 7000 mi, when my brother complained to the Dealer, also I learned the rotors and calipers are the same from the CR-V, being a heavier, more powerful and pricier SUV, the RDX should have better components IMO, but being owner of several Honda bikes, I learned despite usually they are very well made and finish are above other Japanese Brands, often they used some components which are not on pair with the rest on the vehicle, ie my 2006 GoldWing, is an excelent motorcycle, the only complain would be a better front suspension, but I guess that is why there are many aftermarket suppliers...
Anyway backing to the braking, I ordered Perfect Quiet ceramic pads for my 07 RDX it this doesn't solves the issue when resurfacing and installing the new pads, I will go for new rotors, seems as R1 Concepts has a good quality ones, drilled and slotted.

I will post when installing the new pads, but it will not be soon, since the pads are on the way to Chicago, where it will be picked by a relative, which will be back by mid October.

Most people think brake rotors warp due to heat. I use to be one of those people that believed that, but I no longer think that's true.

A couple good reads on the subject

-Warped- Brake Disc and Other Myths

Using a more abrasive brake pad to remove deposits leftover from other brake pads. You could also just get the rotors turned or buy new rotors, but this is just an alternate way to remove the pad deposits from the rotors.

Apexigsx,
thanks so much for the links, each one of the three are very interesting and clarifying, now I know why this annoying vibration comes when the pads and rotors are hot, and it goes when cooling; as you I assumed the rotors warped under heat and they got straight again on the cooling, making the vibration go away.
I forwarded the url to my brother, I bet he will found the subject as interesting as me, despite he found another way to get rid of the issue: by selling the Acuras and switching to Audis...:-)

Update: I step into the mechanic who serviced the RDX a few months ago, when the RDX belonged to my brother; told him about the Perfect Quiet brake pads I was waiting for, in order to install them and test if the vibration went away, he told me he found the vibration, asked some guy of the Acura Dealer Service Dept, he told him all Acuras does that under certain conditions ( real world braking I guess) blamed the rotors, suggested Brembos; ( not available in Mexico ) so he resurfaced the rotors, installed Akebono brake pads, expensiver than OEM, since vibration is on, it was not a solution neither will be the new pads, so I will order a new front set of drilled and slotted rotors from R1Concepts; problem will be, They are over 34 lb weight, so no one relative would bring them along, should wait until May when I will fly US... Not good! but otherwise It would dobled the cost with shipping and custom fees.
