Boost Controller [ EBC ]

EBC's are pretty much dead...most newer turbo tuning is done via remapping the stock ECU. The idea is that your car already has a boost controller that works--why not just use it?

EBC's are great, but I think interface issues with the more modern electronics has reduced their use a bunch.
If it could be used, I would think it's a better option than a Hondata - depending on how the stock ECU reponds.

What I mean is, the newer ECU's will likely go into a protective mode or (limp) if they detect overboost. You might be able to squeeze 0.5-1.0 psi without issue. Again I don't know this ECU, but my VW would throw a cell if I went over 300mbar.

Yeah, I was wondering that same thing about the (limp) mode. Most other sports cars will go into either a boost cut or a fuel cut at higher than normal settings.
I was wondering if it was possible to stop it from bleeding off the boost to 8psi and more or less keeping it at 14, without a re-flash. It can be done in the Evo!

Shawn Church tried using a MBC when the RDX first came out. The RDX's ECU is very sensitive to increased boost; when it senses more boost it cuts timing and adds even more fuel to a pig rich setup killing power.

That's what I was wondering.
But I get the feeling that a lot of the tuners have better things to spend their time on than the RDX, such as STI's, EVO's, etc.
Thankfully we do have Hondata =) And it's safe.

What do you guys think?
If you install an EBC and set it to the factory boost level, do you think that the EBC will hold that set boost level all the way to the rpm limit and not have it fall off as it does in stock trim?

I used to have a Profec b-spec II on my RSX years ago. It ran really well as terms of boost consistency. World sport boost controllers work very well but the thing is that they're really expensive.

just chiming in, i used a mbc on my hondata and was only able to add 1psi of boost even so after some pulls on I95 i got a map sensor high voltage code. even still my car will spike at 16psi before. after hit 17lbs and will spike at 18 at full throttle. happened after destroying an evo on I95 on one of the runs. hope this helps. decided to take it off after multiple turbo backfires had to keep pulling over and reseting the navi telematic ecu. acura shop trick. wink wink
