It begins...modding my RDX
While I have no plans like some of you, Ken and Wrench, my hat goes off to you. Pretty much read all your threads going back a couple years.
My plans are quite simple.
Was thinking about the intake, and for this type of vehicle, the induction noise is not for me. If it looked as snazzy as the APR units for the S3 and GTI, I probably would.
Went to order an AFE Pro-Dry S airfilter. To my dismay, they do not make one. I did send them an email to be see if they'd consider making one. I would not hold my breath.Checked to see if AEM made one of their panel filters for the RDX. I have been running them in my AMG, off and on with the AFE's. Both great filters. Alas, strike 2.K&N drop in it is. Ordered that, and is now in my possession.
From my research, it looks like the Factory BPV can be swapped out for a Mazdaspeed3 unit. So I am hunting for a Forge Gen 1 Black BPV. Hopefully it is a direct fit, and I can fit it without trimming the shroud. If I have to trim, I am going to look for a spare shroud. My question, is this truly a direct swap?
Hondata tune. Was thinking about just getting the flash, but will likely get the Flashpro just in case. Not sure if there are reputable Honda/Acura tuners in my area. Spent most my last few years with SRT-4s and AMGs. If I get protune, I will add larger injectors.
On on the fence for the ETS intercooler, while I love it fits within the factory shroud, 850 seems steep for me. Has anyone tried other top mounts? Is the ETS intercooler bar and plate?
I am also contemplating on picking up 19" TSW's, once I have PM's we can discuss. Thinking those 19" weigh even less than the 18" and look better, so why not? Either way I go, they will be wrapped in DWS rubber.
Don't plan on any suspension mods, but will replace the pads with Ceramic when it comes time.
I will get some base 1/4 mi times in the Spring, then go back flashed. Dyno runs will be in there somewhere too.
Just thought I'd share.

^ cpe is good if you are doing just a few basic things the K&N and weapon R intake systems handle just a well once the vehicle is tuned
no other maker for TMIC right now ive seen a custom setup a guy in russia did a while back but other than that the ETS is the only way to go currently
btw all the intakes listed above are going to give you louder BOV sound so if you want the engine quiet the drop in filter is your best bet

I thought about doing that back in the day, just a drop-in filter and a tune. The wife was driving it back then and absolutely hated any sounds coming from anywhere.

get in touch with vit viper he has the most experience with this platform. the ETS is bar and plate. look into the RV-6 down pipe and DW800cc injectors as a package.
the flashpro is the way to go for anyone adding aftermarket parts at all. hopefully Hondata will get on it and fix the few bugs we have left.

I will post when I have some 1/4mi times. If I squeak a 14.9, I'd be very happy. I am guessing somewhere in the 15.2-15.4 range.
On a side note, I decided to go with a different tire than the tried and true DWS. Went with the Continental PureContact with Eco Technology.
Had them for about a month or so now. Excellent tire, rides smoother and quieter than the OEM. Really didn't feel much of a difference in handling feel and grip. Then again, I don't drive this car like an Elise.
Been in a few decent winter storms already with them, and I must say they are amazing. Just yesterday, I was in my daily commute in the middle of the storm. About 6inches, and no issues what so ever.
I have also seen a decent MPG bump since the tire install.

I bought a drop in K&N, still haven't gotten around to installing it. Also, want to hold off on other mods until I get a base run at the drag strip.
