3" Exhaust Open!

Ok. I knew there were no companies out there with a 3" exhaust for the RDX, so I had one made. I wonder why there are none.. The car doesn't sound very loud at all with the 3" and I'm sure with a cat it would be even more quiet. Well I'll say this, if a company ever develops a 3" exhaust I would gladly be their first customer. I wouldn't be butt hurt if they even made a titanium exhaust..

Waste of money for titanium if you ask me. Aluminum is cheaper.

Titanium exhaust would run about 1600.00, not bad. Plus it would be about 14-16lbs, wouldn't mind the weight savings.

I'm just the type of guy who likes doing things just as good for cheaper. Titanium if you want the looks. Aluminum vs Ti weight wouldn't be that much different. Maybe 3lbs.

I asked a local exhaust shop how much it would cost for a full 3" maybe 3 months ago and the guy quoted me like $900 + $250 (canadian) for a high flow cat.

I paid around 750.00 for the one in the picture from a local exhaust shop. But, the pipes are rusting and getting discolored. Just wondering what a big company can do.

They didn't have that just around. That's why I'm out to get some good stuff if a company jumps on it.

Have you tried contacting magnaflow? I'd pony up for that in a heartbeat.

Not sure, they made one for my Mazdaspeed6, with only about 10k imported. Why wouldn't they want to make one for the first gen RDX which sold over 100K units in the US. Maybe you can be the proto.

Heck, just looked it up. They make one for the ridgeline. If we show interest, I'm sure we could get one made.

I'll try calling. Hopefully they'll be up for making a 3" exhaust.

@N1h1|1ty It was Philip at JPG Exhaust Inc.

This is what he sent me in reply when I asked what it would cost for a full 3" and he suggested I come in and take a listen to their various mufflers so I could choose one.

"
Hi Matt;

We can custom a cat back system for around $800 to $900 depending on muffler & tips. System will be stainless. We can also replace the second cat with a high flow one for $250 plus tax. We suggest that when it comes to muffler, the best way is for you to hear it before installation. We will select a few for you to hear. Please call (905) 339-0317 for appointment.

Thnks
Philip

Mind you the date on this email is 11/09/2012 hahaha so prices may have changed a bit

Yikes! That thing's going to sound like a Honda in the not-so-good-way when one of those rust spots goes through! Is that an actual muffler or did you gut it out?

Magnaflow, keep in mind I got the exhaust in '12 and it is now '15. No leaks, everything sounds good. Like I said, I just want a big company to step up and get an exhaust going. Possible Titanium...

I don't know a big company that will go for this but I do know a shop that has the ability to digitize our exhaust and make them out of mandrel bent stainless steel. they are located in Pasadena Maryland.

My current exhaust has mandrel bends, it's just not stainless.

true but its not big single sections that bolt together with V-bands or spring flanges or whatever. I'm hoping that if I take mine to them they will have nice V-band stuff. and I want a loud muffler and a quiet muffler too. for those days where I want people to look and the days where I don't want the added attention from law enforcement.

Had a 3 inch custom turbo back done. All stainless steel. One center resonator and rear muffler . Used 2 v-bands , one in front after flex pipe for the front section . The other in rear for the muffler. All custom hangers and tips. Sounds amazing , like g35 but deeper. Nick from ELITEJDM.COM made it , check him out !
