take apart steering column

I need to take apart the steering column to expose the wiring harness so that I can install a light activated auto headlight module.

I removed all the screws but couldn't tell how the clips were holding the upper and lower cover together.... I didn't want to force it and break the clips.

Alternatively, any repair manuals that can be bought? Access to the wiring diagram would speed things up.

there are screws at the bottom i think 2-3 and then there are 2 screws when you turn the steering wheel left and right that are exposed on the steering column....you then lower the steering wheel adjustment bar/lever on the bottom and I believe the bottom half should be able to separate from the top with a little force...

Thank you, I did have all the screws out, but wasn't sure if I should remove the bottom plastic piece by pulling towards me, or pulling down. I assumed down, but it seemed to be stuck pretty good.

btw are you using the dei module for automatic headlights, if so i can prob help you find the wires you need ..... i THINK most of the wires can be found around the fuse box parking/headlights/grounds/ignition etc...

Thanks man, yes, I am installing the DEI module, so if you know what wires I need, that would be a great help. I plan to do a DIY for this but just haven't gotten the time.

I did try a screwdriver to pry them apart (during my first attempt), and it seemed tougher than "normal" so I stopped and figured I'd check here before going further.... if that's the correct direction to pull, then I won't be worried this time around I'll just go for it.
