Roof Rack Crossbar Removal?

New owner here of a 2010 RDX. I bought it with a roof rack but I want to use my Yakima crossbars instead of the factory bars. I tried to take off the factory bars today but got stuck with with the piece that slides in the channel of the rack to adjust to fore and aft positioning. Can anyone give me guidance about how to remove the sliding piece? Thanks

I just left mine on. I read somewhere that you had to remove the entire rack to get them out, and the rack often did not reinstall properly. Someone mentioned using a cable tie to secure them to the rack, but I haven't done that yet.

You just need to take off either the front or back plastic ends and the brackets will come out.

Be really careful! The plastic is very thin and will crack easily. The body shop broke ours and put it back on with the crack in it. But...they were goons.
