Possible Dead Alternator?
Hey yall, my 1G 08 RDX just started giving me a power issue. It was running fine this morning but suddenly started making a loud humming sound while idling. Then the whole front dash cluster lit up. Transmission was barely catching gears. Battery is from 2018. Is it the alternator?

Usually a bad alternator will throw a warning light for low voltage. I've personally never heard noise from a bad alternator, it just stops generating power, so I can't speak on that noise. I would drop a fresh battery in first, see how it runs and if there are any lights. At that point you should have a better idea if the alternator is bad or if it could be something else.

bad bearings in the alternator can cause the humming you describe. It's possible that it's going bad.

When I had a bad alternator when I first bought the car(they put a new battery alternator pulley and belt) when driving it the car would ding get a check light then it would disappear. It was intermittent. The car lets you know if it's not charging, found out first hand.
