Original battery in 08 RDX?

Since I am headed to the cold of Lake Tahoe soon for a week trip, I wanted to check on the age of my RDX battery. There is no sticker, but the first two characters in the heat stamp are 7H, and it's a Honda-branded battery. I believe this means my battery was manufactured in October of 2007. I've heard lot's of griping about the OEM battery, so I am really surprised, esp. considering the car spent it's first 5 years in the mid-west.

The indicator is still green, but I plan to take it in for testing asap. I'd like to head to the mountains with one less thing to worry about.

Wouldn't hurt to test. My 08 battery died without any warning in 2011. Interstate since with zero issues.

I would definitely test it. Every honda battery I've seen gone bad still showed good.

Tested and replaced! It didn't pass, and yes, the indicator showed good and it started the car just fine. But no way was I taking an 8-1/2 years old failed battery to the cold in Tahoe!

I looked back at the Acura service records from the previous owner, and noticed that the battery was flagged all the way back in late 2013 as should be replaced soon. I guess with our gentle weather, it kept working just fine.

Dodged a big bullet on that one! Might have saved you from a tow and purchasing a battery on vacation. Something like that always puts a damper on a vacation.

Mine died, it has 7 years on it, Acura battery. Got another one, $140 from acura dealer including tax and installation. this is really good price, and acura batteries have 3 year free replacement warranty

If you get another 7 years out of it, then it's a great deal! I also got 7 years from my original Honda S2000 battery, and replaced with it with OEM.

Others clearly have had issues with Honda batteries. No issues so far for me anyway.

There is only 2-3 companies in US that manufacture batteries. They build batteries for different manufactures to meet their specifications.
