how do i change the console compartment light
Additional explanation of the problem will get you a better answer, when asking for help.
Assuming that you mean the floor center console, between the seats, look here and scroll down to the FLOOR CONSOLE LIGHT note:
https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-rdx-diy-faq-161/diy-complete-bulb-part-number-guide-w-notes-798037/
ADDITIONAL:
The console light cover is WHITE, pry only from the driver side. If you have strong fingernails, or a small flat blade screwdriver, pry the left (driver) side so that the cover pulls out of its retaining hole. It is friction mounted, and should just 'pop-out'.
The flat cover is glued to a small 'box' which contains the bulb. On my vehicle the wire loom to the bulb is so short, that when I pried from the right (passenger) side, the cover broke away from the bulb box - had to replace with a new part, about $4.
In other words, there is only enough slack in the wire to just barely 'rotate' the bulb-box/ cover away from the hole inside the console.
I used a miniture pair of needle nose pliers to hold the bulb holder (in the end of the wire loom), then twist the bulb-housing-box (counter-clockwise) 90 degrees, then pull away from the bulb holder.
The bulb itself pulls straight out of its housing in the end of the wire loom. Put a (small) dab of dielectric grease on the end of the NEW bulb before pushing it back into the wire loom connector. That will make it easier to remove the bulb next time.
I never figured a way to get the wire loom to have more slack and pull further out of the console hole.
The backside of the console light hole is under the floor shift lever. If you are thinking of trying access from there, be aware THAT THERE IS AIR-BAG WIRING BY THE FLOOR SHIFTER - BOOM
Hopefully the short-length wiring is an anomaly on my vehicle, and the wiring is longer on your vehicle.
I felt so angry over this that I considered taking my vehicle to my dealer and insisting that they pull the wiring and lengthen it. But really, I know the level of electrical 'expertise' of the typical dealer mechanic - figured it would just be screwed up. And after considerable effort, I did manage to replace the light bulb.

There is a picture on post #30 of the following link, to match the directions I posted above. On my RDX there was no way to pull the wiring out as far as shown for the TL in the picture below:
