Honda Diagnostic system HDS HIM tool
Hello All, has anyone used one of the HDS HIM devices from eBay? I just ordered one that I’m planning to play around with. My TPMS system has been a little messed up so this is the cheapest way to get to the bottom of it. I also swapped out my TPMS control module because the shops were having an issue even connecting to it, so maybe that will be a good fix.
I found this thread for use with 3g TL. Looks like this tool can be super worth while to have around for any Honda. There is a whole extra storage of codes that can only be read this way. Plus the service by Honda/Acura is super expensive of course.

So, i finally figured my way to getting to to work but only enough to pair my tire sensors. There was at least one issue with the HIM device i got. I found a blog post of a guy that troubleshot for ever and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't connect. So after doing some of his own research he decided to open up the device and check the soldering points. The solder on his was messed up so he fixed it. I went ahead and opened mine up also and found a couple points were connected with solder when they shouldn't be. So i fixed it and then after some more trying i finally got it to connect and let me pair the TPMS sensors. The bad part is it won't let me run the DTC codes or anything and the system/program freezes up.
Im annoyed with this one so I'm returning it. It finally worked for the TPMS only, but its been a headache. I would love it if it actually worked like it is supposed to work.
Maybe ill order another one at some point but quality control on these is non existent haha. The soldering issue was inside the box where the OBD2 connect is wired to the board.

Advanced
The link (https://www.ebay.com/itm/133136983926) gives me an error message, but the description was "USA Ship HDS HIM Diagnostic Tool With Double Board or USB1.1 to RS232 Connector" and it was $107.95. icarecar is still an active user with a ton of auctions, but I don't see any HDS items.

Well, I didn’t ever have much luck with the HIM tool but I did send it back for a refund and that has been processing for almost 6 months. 🤷🏻♂️
After watching some videos and reading around, I found an autel device that works great so far. Only problem is when you buy it, it’s set to only work with 1 car brand for life. I’ve been able to read all my codes and repair my TPMS system, fix my steering angle sensor and a few other items. This thing works great so far.
