Reviewing some of my old posts because today, I have about 130k on the RDX and hadn't check the ATF in a while, but the trucklet was plenty hot (and its 80f or so here now). I saw that the fluid measurement is WAY up the stick, like 2 inches above the top HOT mark!!! I was a bit freaked out, it doesnt smell bad or look burned but am going to do a drain/fill. I am going to let it sit overnight and check again, because I have never had a leak or a problem with it and can't understand why the reading is so high. I did have to take it to a shop to replace the pitch mount because I thought the trans broke about 6 months ago. They never indicated they did anything with the fluid level but I'm an idiot from not carefully checking behind them. I dont tend to go to mechanics and had to do this out of an emergency situation.
Does the reading go really high if the car is sufficiently warmed up and driven for 20 or so miles on a hot day before checking? I dont remember expansion being so severe and I'm trying to figure out if they added fluid. I've never had any issues with the shifting, but I havent driven it in sport mode for years because it ruins axles with the FWD. I'm on my 4th set of generic crap axles actually and when I pull the drivers side, NO fluid ever runs out of the hole (passenger side is a 2 piece with a stub axle you dont usually replace). I'd think if it were that over filled, it would run so it leads me to believe that the only other people that have touched the car put fluid in it. I just hope I didnt burn up anything or ruin the seals if its over by like .5qt.
Hi, I need some help with a good funnel or just a tube. I am having a hard time to find the right one, all the ones I tried seemed too big. Ideally I want something that fits snugly with a flange so that it won't potentially fall in the dipstick tube. Thank you so much.

I went to a big store like HomeDepot ... and got 2-3 feet of transparent vinyl tube big enough to go on tight on the outside of the ds tube, this way it cant fall in, flange not required... sorry I forgot what size... maybe 3/8 ID, plumbing isle?
Used a small funnel and forced its nose into the tube.
Premeasure fluid quantity so you dont have to check while you are doing it.
No leaks or trouble for several rounds
Keep it clean in a plastic bag for next service...

I just perfomed my first of 3 drains and fills yesterday. Get a hose clamp, the ones that use a screw to tighten around the hose. I had the hose and funnel on hand but ran into the same problem you did and realized the tubing was slightly too large. Took off the airbox and expected the fill port to be accessible but it definitely wasnt. Ran to the store and got the clamp and filled it within minutes. Next 2 fills will be a breeze.
Do you know the location of trans filter on 09 RDX?, thanks
The transmission fluid filter is basically a non-servicable component, it's inside the housing and would require the transmission to be removed if in need of replacing.
This was my 4th time doing the 3x drain and fill on our 2011 RDX (FWD). Car mileage now at 200K and MID displayed B13. Already did the oil/oil filter a few days ago and nice day (solar eclipse day of all things) to work on car. Bought a case of 12 qts of ATF-D1 from local Honda dealer in Richardson (Dallas) TX for ~$110. Parked the car, no jacks as easy to get to transmission drain plug. Each drain measured 4 qts (have a couple gallon jugs from before that are measured in 1qt gradations. The procedures from Jack737 (OP) are still great, although I just use the dip stick to fill. Along with the "drainflow" I've had since the beginning, I just use a turkey baster (take bulb off the thick end of baster. The narrow end fits perfectly inside the dip stick tube. Then the plastic tubing from the drain flow just goes into the top of the baster. Takes ~5 mins per quart. All in takes 2-3 hours for the process including the drives around after 1st and 2nd drains. the walmart "drainflow" with added tube that fits into top of turkey baster. The baster narrow end fits perfectly into the dip stick tube
