DIY: Cabin Air Filter Replacement
#83
Hey guys, I also found this video...
This is a great diy thread but in case someone still doesnt understand how to unhook the clips the video illustrates it a bit more clearly.

To add to this thread. If you accidentally pull to hard and the shock comes off the glove box, first instincts are to push it on to the white clip fro behind into the eye of the shock. That doesn't work. it actually slides into the white clip itself. I tried to google this and no answers. Thought i would save someone the headache if they did the same thing.

I have the 2013 RDX. This was an easy job. No need to remove the glove box door for the 2013 model. Simply remove the removable shelf inside the glove box. The compartment for the filter is in the back. Remove the outer flap door and the inner filter door. Slide the old filter out, new filter in. Replace all doors. Done!

My new RDX was a smoker's car so I am preparing Ozone Shock Treatment and I have just changed the cabin air filter to a Fram Fresh Breeze one with baking soda. This has to be the easiest maintenance possible!

Going from memory...empty glove box, open and pull the tabs at the back to allow it to drop completely. Air filter tray should be right in front of you, held in place by a few plastic tabs/clips. Unlatch them, pull out tray, swap filter (pay attention to air flow arrows!), and replace. Video should help, but honestly you can fumble your way around and do it. There are no tools required, so very little chance of doing any damage with your bare hands.

Honestly this is the easiest thing to do in this car, even easier than replacing the engine air filter. On top of easy filter location, it also has a filter tray. My previous few cars had it in the same location, but you had to wiggle the filter into the slot. This one, just slid the tray out, drop in the new filter, and put the tray back.
