Black Chrome Emblems

It'll take 1 can of transparent black spraypaint. (I used a can of transparent black Testers model paint which can be found in the hobby sections around models. While you are there get a Gloss clear coat by testers aswell.
1.paint
While spraying the emblems I noticed it takes a few coats to make it look black chrome.
2.wait
Wait for it to throughly dry.
3.clear coat
Testers clear gloss coat, which I sprayed on very lightly a few times.
Looks exactly like the Lexus emblems.
It's kind of hard to screw up. Be careful while clear coating, too thick it will cause the paint to run, touching and dust while clear coat is still wet leaves blemishes.
Have fun!

Just an update.
Well, I guess I have to get a filter for the camera. The conditions for filming it are hard I've used black on white for contrast / out doors / indoors with different lights. The camera still does not do it any justice, leaving it Black with no clarity seen in black chrome.

Again it's easy to do, paint using a transparent black (tester's, for hobby models.) if the paint is too dark use alcohol to remove it. Dry, try again. I suggest that if the vehicle is outside alot, get it to where it looks right with transparent black, and spray one light coat of transparent-black due to the effects of the sun.
Lastly the clearcoat and try to get even coverage, overdoing will cause the paint to run.
I suppose some lens paints will work.
I used a can of urethane spray for a clear coat and the first time I tryied I had a mess. But after cleaning I got the emblems back to "stock." I have had it for 7 years and still 1 tiny chip on the box'd H
OBTW I got this "DIY black chrome" information from one of my tuner magazines back in the day, 98-2000'ish but I visited the sites to get a link and I guess they don't archive this or it was the wrong mags.
It really does look good, just have to take my word for it. I have a CF hood for my car and this is off till I finish building my car I'll be putting it on later. I have a few more months. I'll do a video walk thru when I get a chance.
