Arrow Anyone have insight on Interior Detailing???

Hey guys,

I bought my '08 RDX mid December and have yet to clean the interior. Do any of you have any suggestions on cleaning the dash? For example, the plastic portion I just dust off but is there anything I should use to give it a shine? Also, on the lower portion of the dash with the soft-touch rubber/pleather material there seems to be dust kind of "baked in". There must be something I can use to give it a nice clean look again. Any product suggestions would be helpful as well.

Any and all suggestions is most appreciated! Thanks Acurazine viewers!

I personally don't like the shiny look that something like a Armour All puts on the dash of a car. I normally take a lint free piece of cloth and dampen it with a little warm soap water and clean the dash. It leaves the dash in its nice natural look and gets rid of all the dust and dirt. I pretty much use that for the whole dash and center console.

I've also noticed that the base of the door gets pretty dirty from shoes, etc. Especially if you have taupe interior. Since the surface is not smooth I find that a soft toothbrush is great to get into the little ridges of the plastic on the base of the door. Then just wipe it down with the same soap cloth.

As for the all-weather mats I hose those puppies down and hang them out to dry.

I would like to hear other peoples' tips especially for keeping the leather nice and clean.

I appreciate the reply! I'll try using a warm damp cloth when I clean the interior of my RDX this weekend. Anyone else have any advise??

How about moving scratches in the dash? The top/plastic portion of the dash is EASILY scratched...got two small ones right now. There must be a way to remove them!

I've used NOVUS plastic scratch remover on faint to deep scratches on previously owned cars, it works like magic.

There are three grades of the Novus scratch remover. Which one do you use?

For light scratches I use #2 and for let's say you've kicked the bottom of your door (plastic burn/scuff) one too many times or the bottom plastic seat section I use #3. It's really like magic!
