2008 RDX Maintenance

Guys, i am new to the forum and a recent RDX owner. Last month i bought a 2008 RDX with about 28K miles on. Shortly thereafter I had a B12 indicator turn on. I took it to a dealer and got the service where he recommended a 30K service. I was not sure at that point whether I need to get the dealer recommended service or if the maintnance reminder will inform me when I need servicing. I asked him to just perform the B12.

My question is, do I depend on the car tro tell me what it needs or the dealers. If any of you could be nice enough to post a maintenance schedule which you think is better for the car and economical for me.

I appreciate all your help in advance.

Thanks

Follow the reminder only. Dealer will always try to oversell. If you can document you have done maint, then warranty is good.

Congrats on your new RDX! It's a fun vehicle. I looked in my manual under Maintenance Minder and it only goes up to a B6 service. What is a B12? Anyone?

B1 and the sub symbol is 2

B1 includes

Replace Engine oil and oil filter
Service front and rear brakes
Rotate Tires
Inspect parking brake adjustments
Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box and boots
Inspect suspension components
Inspect driveshaft boots
Inspect brak hoses and lines
Check all fluid levels and leaks
Inspect exhaust system
Inspect fuel lines

Sub Symbol 2 includes
Replace air cleaner element
Replease dust and pellen filter
Inspect and adjust drive belt

Thats alot but 90% of that can be done easily in your own garage :P

The only thing I'd pay for is rotate tires (even that only if I'm too lazy).

The reminder was B 1 2 just like Mau mentioned.

It is a really nice vehicle. My wife and I enjoy it. So I guess your advice is to just follow the reminders.

Are their reminders for everything the car needs? For example: Differential fluid change etc.

I do understand that if we use the car more than "average", it is advisable to pay more attention to the car.

Thanks

So what exactly are they looking for in the inspection? Tears in the boots, cracked lines, leaking fluids and proper fluid levels, etc? I now do most of my own maintenance and always felt my inspections might be a little lacking becuase I am not a "factory trained tech."
