So today on my way to work, I found that the only XM stations that would play continuously were the ones in my presets. If I manually tuned to a different one, it would play for 15 seconds and then go dead. Going to a different station resulted in the same. Going to one of my presets resulted in continuous play. If I added a new station to my presets, it then would play continously as well. After turning the car off, removing the key and starting over, all returned to normal. Has anyone else experienced this? It's almost like the radio temporarily lost it's 'license', but if that were the case, then my presets should have failed too.

What is the behavior of XM if you don't have a subscription? Do the stations play at all, even for 15 secs, or is the Preview station the only one you can get?

That's a new one. Can't even guess about what causes it.

 

Now that you've mentioned it, my XM has been acting up as well.

For the first 20-30 minutes, I can listen to any station (presets or not) and everything is great. Then, nothing. I can switch channels and see the artist name, title, etc... but no sound at all. This will keep up for who knows how long. When I start back up the car and drive, back to normal for the first 20-30 minutes and then dead.

Weird...

All other stations, FM/AM, work fine.

Sounds like an internal stereo problem to me.

 

Hmmm....yours sounds like a different issue to me. You get 20-30 minutes and then lose it on all stations. I get 20-30 seconds then lose it until I change the channel. I can change back to the same channel and get another 20-30 seconds. I also get unlimited time if I program it as a preset. Mine definitely sounds like a software glitch to me. Yours sounds more like hardware or maybe even a temp related failure.

Have not had that particular problem,but ever since I started my xm subscription
the song and artist NEVER IS DISPLAYED.I had an mdx loaner and everytime
a song came on both the artist and title came up.Any suggestions why this happens?

Hmmm...Ok. I guess I've just never seen anyone announce that they were subscribing to a thread. Is there a reason you told us? Really not being sarcastic here - I'm actually wondering if you are related to XM or Acura in some way and are saying you will be looking into the problem?

It actually happens in quite a few forums. When I post a comment, it automatically saves the thread to my user interface. I could post gibberish, but that would cause additional questions.

 

Mike - I believe the main preview station plays all the time without a subscription and then a few select other stations which rotate over time. I vaguely remember this when my trial period expired. I could be wrong though.

At my next oil change interval, I'll have my service dept check out my head unit and see if that's my problem. Hopefully they just won't write on my invoice, "Service tech could not replicate customer noted problem."

 

You probably already know this but there is a "DISP" button on your head unit which allows you to change what is displayed when a song is played on XM. You can change the setting to Artist Name, Song Title, Category, etc...

 

I've had this problem before, Some XM stations would play fine and others would play for about 10 to 15 sec. and stop. It cleared up after cycling the key. It's happened 3 times to me, I completely forgot about it til now. I'm gonna have to remember to check this out at work.
