So I've been doing the self DVD-A creation ever since I got my 2007 - and loving every minute of it. However, a friend just told me that you can get multichannel AAC files from iTunes and either burn them to DVD-A, or on later model years play them directly through the USB interface from an iPod - and still get all 6 discrete channels. I've also been told that if you burn them to DVD-A, the system will read the titles.

This completely contradicts my experience with our ELS system, and frankly I'm having a hard time believing it. Every piece of documentation I can find seems to indicate that the USB interface only supports 2 channel audio. I also know that PLII will simulate 5.1 from 2 channel sources, but the ability to play true multichannel audio through the USB interface would surprise me. Can anyone confirm this?

I also can't find any multichannel audio on iTunes other than what is included in video files.

Any thoughts?
