New guy question

I picked up an 2007 RDX for my daughter. It had a few issues but we are working through them. New struts, end links, Hatch struts, Battery drain issues,Baked the bluetooth module ( and it actually is working), Spark plugs, some minor body work etc..... LOVE THIS CAR. Truly one of the best driving little cars I have been in. Anyway, are Navigation DVD is not working. We took out the drive and tried cleaning the lens, Tried to copy the contents of the DVD to disk and burn to a new disk, no luck. I am assuming we probably need to replace the Drive, but before I do.
Is there a way to get a replacement disk or use one from another Acura that is parting out? Does the version of the disk need to stay specific to the vehicle? We have a white 4.55 Version.

Any help or suggestions are welcome. Thank you,

Oh I failed to mention that the reason I was asking about other years was that there is a 2014 RDX parting out about an hour away and hoped someone could tell me if there was a possibility that the drive or disk might work in our 2007 before we make the trip down. I realize this is the next generation up, so wondered if anyone had any experience or knowledge or what Drives might be able to swap into the 1st Gen.

You can try to find a newer disc on E-Bay, though prices are not always much better than new. Right now you can get the 2021 disc for $99, and it's the last update they will put out for our cars. So if you plan to keep the RDX for a while and will make use of the navi, it may be worth it to just get the current disc and call it a day.

Thanks, I think you are right on that. Hope the drive is working properly. She doesn't probably need the maps etc.. Its more just the annoyance that it keeps popping up and saying it can't find the disk and that feeling of something not working on the car.

I hear you - it's like once you're ok with one thing not working, other stuff will stop working. I'm sure it's all psychological, but I do the same thing. Mine has given me read issues on occasion - usually when it is humid outside. When it gets bad, cleaning the disc tends to help. That said, optical discs will eventually wear out, warp, etc. 4.55 sounds like the original disc that came with your car 15 years ago, so I would at least try a newer disc before replacing the whole drive unit.

Thanks, I was wondering if the version in there was the one that came with the car or an update that happened along the way. I will dig deeper in the forms to see what options there might be for different, radios, nav changes etc.. Seems like I should see what tech others may have come up with since 2007 that might be more useable. I think I came across a thread awhile back that had a way to change things to use CarPlay.
Do you know if there is any way for it to skip the procedure where it looks for the disk and sends the message. I think I would be fine with it just defaulting to the screen with the trip info if there was a way to keep it from checking for the disk. It truly is just this mental thing that makes me anxious anytime it throws up some warning or light that says something isn't happy.
