HFL Question - Making Calls
HFL Question - Making Calls
I have a naive question here: can one only make an outgoing call using the HandsFreeLink system by pressing the HFL button and saying the phone number / programmed name (according to the RDX's onboard phonebook)?
Is it possible instead to simply select and press call on a Bluetooth-connected phone and have the call use the HFL system (as is possible with other cars)?
I am using a Blackberry 9900 and an iPhone 4; I understand I can download my contacts to the RDX; however, I have some reservations about placing all business contacts in the car, and there are often times when I miss a call (because I am already on one) and and want to call someone back afterwards - be it the second or third-most recent call on my phone's call log. Simply pushing Send/Call at that point to make the call seems quicker (and less distracting) than pushing the HFL afterwards and saying "Call John Smith" or looking at the phone and reciting John's number.
Other Bluetooth-enabled vehicles seem to allow me to look at the call log, press "Send/Call" on the desired number, and have the call use the car's system. This seems not possible in a 2009 RDX and so I thought I would confirm with you all first as a sanity check.
Thanks in advance!

Have an '08 Tech and can do what you say with no problems. I just make the call on my phone and then when it asks for the HFL audio source on the phone I just select HFL and done. I believe this is what you're talking about.
Many thanks both of you - you confirm that one still needs to initiate the call on the mobile device, and once the call connects, choose the Bluetooth device as the output. My car systems to be working as normal.
Darn, I was hoping the HFL would behave like that of other vehicles wherein the mobile device would automatically leverage the Bluetooth connection without any extra button-pushing for each and every call.
Thanks!
