Question HFL - Cannot Answer, but can dial/call

Hello,

I have a Samsung A516 and an 09 RDX. I am having trouble answering calls via HFL.

I have successfully paired the device, and can call out, but cannot answer. When I try to answer a call, I press talk and then it hangs up! Any ideas? This is driving me nuts

Much appreciated!

Maybe because it isn't compatible?

You should use their site to find out what is compatible ---> http://www.handsfreelink.com/findaphone.taf

i find it kind of silly that only certain phones are compatible. bluetooth is bluetooth. at least you should be able to dial out/receive calls at the very minimum with all bluetooth phones. as for the special features such as battery level, etc., that is a different story.

Not all bluetooth devices are NOT made the same, period. It's like saying all CUV's should drive the same way, etc...

I don't agree. Bluetooth is a standard. As such all devices (including Acura's HFL) should be compatible with each other. Perhaps it's not Acura's fault but rather the phone manufacturer. Either way seems that the HFL is not compatible with certain phones but I wonder if those phones work fine with other Bluetooth headsets.

Let me add to what I meant. We all know the bluetooth standard fine, I have no argument about that. However that doesn't mean the cell phone mfg will use the bluetooth in the same manner as other cell phones out there.

Well, they should.

It just seems odd to me that Acura publishes a list of compatible phones that work with the HFL. You don't see bluetooth headset manufacturers listing out which phones are compatible. They just list which Bluetooth standard it supports.

I'm not just knocking Acura as I said in my earlier post that it could be the cell phone manufacturers. Actually, I've had good experiences with HFL and the bluetooth phones I have used.

Just another example of how U.S. telecommunications companies are screwing the consumer. Anywhere else in the world you can buy any cell phone you want and choose which service you want. But not in the U.S. Only certain phones work with certain service providers. Only in the U.S. of A.

And Canada too! Believe me, we feel your pain. Even more so with our lack of competition up here.

This is the same problem the iPhone had when the iPhone software went from version 2.0 to 2.1 I believe. Then when Apple upgraded to 2.2 the problem disappeared. See if your cell phone provider might have a software update for your phone.

I don't see the phone listed in the Acura link vflyer posted!
It may have "paired up", but some features may not work if the info isn't even in the Acura database programmed into the HFL?
